Hotel Grand Chancellor Launceston

Found this joint over priced and over rated in all areas. First was the carparks at an extra six dollars per day beside the hotel and out in the open. That was if you were lucky enough to snag one because its a public car park .....! Than came a room from a time gone by! The bed had springs that gave out at least 10 years ago and the bathroom had mildew on the roof . A shower curtain and a stand in bath. "What The" Who rated this joint?? It had no fixed lighting but lamps that were dull as. This place is a real dump!!! I ve stayed in a lot better for alot less and they were real 4 or 5 star joints. My advise to travellers is maybe peppers, sebel or hotel charles. Real ratings there and for around the same price. . cheers Queenslander.

Room Tip: Don't stay here !! Get a better hotel elsewhere!!1

I'm not a fan of fake finishes, and this place takes it to the extreme. Faux facade, faux timbers, faux marble in the lobby, etc, makes the whole place feel a bit cheap.

I have stayed here a number of times with work, so considering I am not paying can't complain too much, but if I was paying $150 a night (our corporate rate) I think I would be a little underwhelmed. I guess I found the whole place a bit ordinary.

The front desk staff are pretty bored looking and not enthusiastic, but I found the room service staff lovely. Thought the room service dinner options were lovely and have tried most of the options by now! Breakfast so so.

Overall no major complaints, but nothing special.

Service was excellent. Food was sensational. Was really well priced, and our rooms were lovely, well maintained, clean, well appointed with nice views across the city. A pleasure to stay, and we'll definately stay again.

We stayed for one night and had booked a standard room, but decided to upgrade when we arrived to a refurbished room. The hotel is in a good location right in the centre of town. Parking is available in the car park next to the hotel and costs $6. The staff were friendly and helpful. The Foyer and Restaurant looks impressive on entry, but the hotel iitself is a little tired so were were glad we had upgraded to the refurbished room. For the price we paid we were happy.

Great spot close to city park and city centre shopping, with all the services you would expect from a 4 and a half star hotel. There's plenty of hotels in the area with better facilities or bigger rooms, but the Hotel Grand Chancellor is consistently clean, well serviced and has great rates on last minute websites, plus kids stay free in existing bedding. Delisious food in the restaurant too.

Yes it does seem like this places best days are behind it. Alot of hotels just seem to get set up nicely but do little to maintain themselves besides the necessary cleaning & repairs.

Stayed here before moving here and while it has a great appearance, there sure is something lacking. The staff seemed really kind to me though, that seemed to make it better.

Stayed here for one night this month. Arrived very late after cancelled and delayed flights. Staff member at the desk knew my name and had check in arranged. I appreciated the all night room service. Bed was comfortable and room was unusually spacious. All of the staff were very friendly.

The decor is a bit dated but it could be worse. The carpet looks new. The bathroom is very old fashioned.

Only significant issue for me was the lack of power points for laptop and iron - there are hardly any power points to be found in the room, as is common in older buildings.

Public areas could do with a revamp.

Overall, not a bad option but don't overpay - make sure you could good online deal.
