My partner and I stayed here overnight recently after getting the hotel as a Wotif mystery room for under $90. It was definitely good value for money, the room was clean and had free in-house movies. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Parking was free and not far from the room. We also ate at the on-site restaurant Three Steps on George which was nice and cosy with a wood fire, perfect for the middle of Winter. We were woken early by a huge bunch of kookaburras but no fault of the hotel of course. We stayed on the ground floor which was a little dark given the gloomy weather, but fine for us for an inexpensive overnight stay.

We arrived in Launceston in the late afternoon without having planned for lodging. We used our GPS navigator to search for motels and noticed this Quality Hotel listed near the CDB. The staff was very friendly and checked us into a large clean room. The only problem was that lifts were nowhere near the room so we had to haul our luggage up a flight of stairs (we actually never found the lift). The front desk and lobby is done in Victoria décor, but that’s not at all the décor of the room. The room was modern and seemed newly remodeled. All in all it was a pleasant, quiet one night stay.

Have stayed here 4 times now & each time is as good. Lovely place to stay - rather quaint, staff go above and beyond every time you meet them.

Beds are real comfortable and rooms well appointed. On site restaurant serves superb food with great service. Very happy to recommend this place and will be staying there again.

Room Tip: I prefer the ground floors as there are no lifts so lugging luggage upstairs is a pain. That said th...

I am not sure why people are giving bad reviews about this place its wonderful! From the moment i checked in i was warmly welcomed, the service was great and the room omg was wonderful! I had booked a queen room for 2 nights and there was a deal for an upgrade for free to the queen delux, i had the option if i wanted a balcony or no balcony, i chose no balcony as it is cold and wasnt really going to be spending alot of time in the room enough to enjoy it. I had also emailed through a request to not put me anywhere near the smoking area they have downstairs as there was a medical circumstance i explained to them, they were so accomodating and made sure my room was well away from the downstairs smoking area, and when i checked in they told me i had received an upgrade for this, it was a lovely treat.

The room was fantastic, it had newly been renovated so everything was beautifully new but still had an country charm about it! i walked in it was warm, there was reverse cycle air con and the bathroom was exquisite, ive never seen a hotel bathroom so beautiful i wish i had this bathroom at home!!!!

I had a flat screen tv, and a dvd player so i can play my own movies, i got some bathrobes which was nice, extra pillows and blankets if i needed them, the queen bed was so nice and comfy, there was another single bed i didnt use but it was still nice to sit on, there was a full stocked mini bar and the prices were reasonable, considering that most of the hotels ive stayed in generally the mini bar was so overpriced, but the mini bar at the colonial was reasonable and not over priced.

I had dinner at the restaurant 3 steps the first night which was in the hotel area and it was quant and warm and had a comfortable vibe, the also offered room service, the prices are normally priced not over the top priced like some places ive dined in, they had something for everybody and bed of all they offered room service which i used the 2nd night, wow it was like i had dined in the restaurant but in my own comfortable hotel room.

I had breakfast one of the mornings $15 for full buffet brekkie it was nice, hot and plenty to choose from and even had pancakes was nice!! i didnt go the 2nd morning as i didnt have time as i had to fly home, but i would of went back for brekkie.

I got a newspaper for free both mornings i stayed, there was free movies on the movie channels, and i used the wifi they had in the rooms, its fast and was $10 for the full day not bad!!!

Check out was smooth and was wished a nice day and hoped i had a nice stay, overall i was so happy i wish i could of stayed another few nights, i still dont get why people were disappointed in the hotel, i payed $120 each night and thought it was well worth it, i guess theres no pleasing people ...the decore suited the room, and the hotel and was fabulous!!!

Could not fault this place, they even called the airport shuttle company for me for the next morning and when the shuttle people forgot me they liased with them and made sure they came.

So thank you, i had a fabulous stay and def would stay again next time in in launceston:)

Room Tip: Ask for a higher up room - queen delux or business suite def the way to go- room away from the smoki...

Our hearts sank as we entered the dark and dingy room on the ground floor overlooking the carpark. We couldn't believe we were being asked to pay $150 a night for such a run down, stuffy, gloomy room with a very tired, drab bathroom and we certainly didn't want to stay in there for the four nights we had booked. We returned to reception to see if we could be moved to another room, at least one where we weren't so exposed to everyone walking past being able to see straight into our room. The staff were all really helpful and pleasant and did their very best to find another more acceptable room. Finally we were moved upstairs to a room which at least had a newly renovated bathroom and where we could open the curtains. But, still, the room was very dated and really needs some work to bring it up to the standard required for the price being charged.
We had paid extra for breakfast which was really hit and miss. The first morning only half of the hot food was available even though there was another hour until breakfast ended. The second morning there was nothing! We, and everyone else in the dining room, had to wait while the chef cooked extra - really not acceptable when you have already paid for the service. And the coffee was execrable!
We found the staff to be really lovely but unfortunately it's not enough to make us ever stay here again.
