when visiting Tassie in the winter phone ahead to check opening times as they will either be closed, closed down or change the time of operating hours.

We visited this amazing old preserved house recently and were greeted by a lovely volunteer who gave us an overall history and then let us peruse our way around and discover a glimpse of life in the early days of Tasmania. We enjoyed a fabulous devonshire tea with a real cup of tea and homemade scones-delicous and very reasonable price. On the day we arrived, it was lovely to see the local residents proudly working hard in the gardens.

Beautiful.... the inside is amazing and the staff very friendly. You have to try the cafe, Devonshire tea was delicious and melts in your mouth, proper pot of tea not a tea bag in sight. Fantastic!!!

The National Trust of Australia has done a great job preserving a lovely, tranquil house just on the out skirts of Launceston telling the story of the house and the people who have lived there. It is worth a detour from the main highway to see this charming building.
