Whilst this market may be small compared to others, it is a fab market that showcases the local produce. If you want fresh carrots, this is your place.. If you want bread that will melt in your mouth, this is your place. The market starts at 8.30am so best to get there early.

I love the Harvest Market. Of course the prices are going to be a bit higher than the supermarkets, but you pay for quality, service, friendliness, freshness, variety etc. Everybody there, from the myriad of stallholders to the shoppers, is in a wonderful, happy mood and it's a great place to be, and a good way to start your weekend, and menu plan for the week. Well done to the organisers, and for achieving so much in such a short time.

I was expecting something a little more on par with the farmer's markets we have here in Brisbane, given the abundance of fresh produce around the Tamar Valley, but no, it was tiny. Maybe it was just the season, but there was only around a dozen stalls there. Coffee was good, bacon and egg rolls served on cold buns just made the egg cold before you could eat it. A number of the stall holders mentioned on the website weren't there on the day, which was disappointing. Ok if you live in Launceston - not really a tourist attraction though

Hi Joanne, glad you were able to make it to the market. In March and April we've had between 37 and 41 individual stalls each weekend with a huge variety of products. One weekend we did have 2 stalls that weren't able to make it (rabbits and plants) but this didn't greatly affect our numbers. Our weekly newsletter online does list our stallholders and all do attend each week except in exceptional circumstances which is rare.

I will definitely pass on your suggestion about serving a hot bun with the egg and bacon roll to Ritual our breakfast stall. Hopefully if you return you'll visit Harvest farmers' market again.

I visited Launceston for the weekend. It rained upon our early arrival but this did not stop us from wanting to visit the market. I was here in Februay (on a better day weather wise) and wanted to come back for more pastries, cheese and wine. Lots of produce available and the place was rather crowded considering the weather. It is definitely worth a visit. Make sure you come with an empty stomach. Enjoy!

Recently moved to Launceston, Tas, and have been to the Harvest Market twice so far. Some products are Artisan prices (more expensive than Gourmet) and not something you can afford to pay for every week. Other products (1kg strawberries $10 - super fresh and tasty) have me going back every Saturday. Loved the coloured carrots $3 small bunch, red onions $3 small bunch, potatoes amazingly fresh with several varieties to choose from.

Southern Sky Gourmet cheese range is delicious - Brie with Truffle filling, Persian Fetta with Garlic (they have tastings) and we are slowly buying our way through their range.

The stall holders are friendly and helpful. Lots of other stalls - wine, jams, bread, apples, doggie treats, meat, fish, dairy (hope I haven’t left any out) - so definitely worth visiting if you are in Launceston on a Saturday morning.
