“Black lentils are a hit”
Reviewed July 27, 2014

Our second visit was just as good as the first two years before. Enjoyed the Tandoori Sizzler as entree for four, followed by an excellent chicken vindaloo, lamb roganjosh and the hit of the evening being the Daal Makhini made with black lentils. The Mt Langi Shiraz went perfectly. The staff were friendly and helpful and the chef explains the daal recipe, then comes out again to farewell us. Will definitely be returning on our next Apple Isle visit.

“Over priced”
Reviewed July 23, 2014

My chicken curry was dry and had too much seasoning. The seasoning on the chicken was overpowering and the sauce was smothered all over the chicken. The whole thing tasted bad. I could not taste the chicken at all.
Much improvement is required from this place before they can charge more.

“What a shame”
Reviewed July 16, 2014

This is the third review on this restaurant I have done and possibly the last.

In my opinion, over the last couple of visits the overall standard has slipped to a point verging on unacceptable.

Water in a bottle was taken from a table containing a dozen or so bottles of water, sitting under the overhead heater, and placed on our table.

The water was warm..
When we pointed this out to the waiter he bought us a small glass of ice..

Service is slow, over an hour after placing our order before entree was delivered, and that is when there was only a handful of other diners.

When entrees did arrive, they were Luke warm, verging on being cold.
At least I assume a mixed platter of tandoor cooked meats should be at least warm.

When mains did arrive, there was not enough room on table for the mains as the used dishes from the entrees had not been cleared, and in fact it was me who suggested they take them away, whilst they tried to make room to place a main dish.

Mains were served in decorative containers, but with no serving spoons, even after advising we would be sharing our mains,

We have enjoyed some of the best Indian food here in the past, a waiter who could remember several orders without writing them down, and never get one wrong.

To now the farce we experienced last week.

Watch the floor show if you go, the staff come out from behind the screen, walk a few steps, then as if they have forgotten something go racing back behind the screen, only to be repeated several times throughout the service, meanwhile you sit, wanting another drink, or to be fed.

Hopefully AAJ pulls itself out of this downwards dive, we will watch the reviews.

Good luck

“Great For a Group Booking”
Reviewed July 15, 2014

I recently ate here with a group of around 15 and we chose to book in for the banquet style menu at $35 a head. The staff were welcoming and their service was outstanding. The dishes were delicious and there was more than enough for everyone. My personal favourites were the Beef Vindaloo, the chicken Tikka and the Garlic Naan. It was a very enjoyable evening and I will definitely be back.

“Very enjoyable dinner”
Reviewed June 2, 2014

Service was really good and we were well looked after, food when it reached the table did not look like a lot but we couldnt finish it all which was unfortunate because it was really delicious ( 3 main, 2 rice, 3 naan for 3 of us). everything we ordered (veggie dumpling dish, tandoori chicken and butter chicken) was flavoursome and really enjoyable, we will definately be back yummmmm!!
