“Fantastic Breakfast”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2014

We stayed here for 3 nights. The room was fine quite spacious but the bathroom/shower a bit on the small side. The hosts were absoluely lovely. The breakfast was excellent with everything homemade -from the jams/muffins/piklets to the Burcher Museli and creamed rice - deliscious. All of the stewed fruits and bread. Alot of effort put into the breakfast and really appreciated. A short walk down into the city area but a walk up a hill on return. Not too bad though. A small corner store nearby which had excellent salad sandwiches freshly made, nice to sit in the park opposite to eat. I would definitely stay here again.

We were cycle touring Tasmania in November and stayed here at the start of our trip. Disappointed that our trip didn't allow us to also finish here. When we arrived at 10am, hoping to just leave our luggage and come back at a more respectable time, we were extremely surprised when they told us to "go up and make ourselves at home". The host is so friendly and helpful, but the highlight is the breakfast. Everything is home made including the bread, honey (bee hive out the back) and muffins fresh from the oven. We spent nearly 2 hours just eating and chatting to other guests and the host.

We stayed here in July 2013 and opted for the two room family suite which turned out bigger than I thought it would be. Two teenage daughters had one room which connected to the self contained family room which could have slept 4 anyway if we'd chosen to. It isn't luxurious but is quite comfortable in a lovely historic house. As mentioned by others, the breakfast is an amazing spread and our host made fresh gluten free bread for me. (I had asked about GF options at time of booking.) The kitchenette and small dining area on the enclosed verandah of the room are handy although we ate out on both of our nights. It's an easy walk down hill into town but walking back up can be a challenge. There is a small corner store/cafe about a 1 minute walk around the corner (not down the hill) and a large supermarket is a short drive/longer walk away.

Room Tip: Two room family suite has kitchenette and can sleep at least 6. Main self contained room sleeps 4 wi...

The place is on quiet street & quite convenient location. Nice home-made breakfast & friendly host. I agree with other viewer, if you have dust mite allergy, this is not the place for you. The hall way is pretty dark. I'm not sure the floor is clean or not as it is dark-brown floral carpet, dark red tile in the bathroom & dark brown tile in the kitchen. Kitchen cupboards, old fridge & toilet bowl are all dark brown, the shower is old. The walls are out dated with wall paper and dark brown wood. I didn't have a good feel about this place as everything is so dark. It would be nice if the floor and wall have lighter colour. There are no fly screen on the windows so I couldn't open it (Well, I did but mosquitoes and bees got in) & there is no air-cond, so the room is a bit stuffy. The oven in my unit didn't work. It was an OK stay for me.

Feels just like a traditional english B and B with a friendly, grascious host. Comfortable and homely rooms with all you could need for your stay.

Apart from the service, the best part is the breakfast. Beautifully set breakfast area with a range of foods on offer from basic cereal to home made breakfast muffins and everything in between. Home grown honey and fruits. Freshly made jams and preserves to go with the home made bread or pikelets. Worth it just for the breakfast.

This was a lovely little place to stay. It's also known as Windmill Bed and Breakfast. Our accommodation fee covered a lovely breakfast that you can have in the dining room from 7am to 9am. This place is about 10-15 minutes from the middle of Launceston city and is walkable - only advice is that the walk into town and back is very steep - downhill into town and uphill back to lodge. The accommodation has no lifts and rooms are on the first floor so not a suitable place for those who can't lift heavy suitcases or who have disabilities. I didn't notice any downstairs rooms. Our room had a tiny tv, no phone, but we did get free wireless internet access. Room was quite large. One of the windows in the room we stayed in didn't lock so we couldn't leave valuables in the room. There is car parking but it's on the road outside of the Lodge. It is free to park there, however, in peak season it might be hard to find parking as most parking is paid parking around Launceston for 3 hours. Service was excellent and the owner gave us a map and suggested some good eating places. Very helpful and friendly. I would stay there again.

Room Tip: Apparently there are rooms that have self catering for families. Our room didn't have this, but...
