When we arrived, we thought the building was lovely - old converted house with antique furniture. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and the bathrooms are spacious and we never had to wait. However the kitchens were not up to the standard of the rest of the hostel. The upstairs kitchen oven doesn't work and the fridge was disgusting - hadn't been cleared out in weeks. A food spillage wasn't cleaned up for at least 2 days - it was still there when we left. We tried to make lunch at 12.30pm one day to find the main kitchen closed - why do this at lunchtime?! Maybe employing a full-time cleaner would be better so guests can use the facilities. We became aware of bedbugs in other rooms - surely encouraging guests to use their own sleeping bags is a factor in this? Also, our bed was extremely noisy and not the most comfortable. We could also hear other guests through the thin walls at all times of day/night. Internet very expensive.
