I was so impressed with these guys, we needed a room passing through and they were more then happy to help even with our later check in time. They done a great deal on a spa room (maybe a bit expensive for the area) and we were highly impressed with the service, cleanliness and quality of the premises.

No doubt about the quality, and certainly no complaints about the cleanliness of the place or the helpfullness of the staff. Huge beds that are of good quaity and all the little things that are needed such as a bottle opener, cutlery, microwave etc. are on hand.
But what a let-down that the TV reception is very intermittant, the pool is cold and the spa so full of chemical that it looks more like a bubble bath. Such a pity wjhen everything else is so good!

when booking make sure you are very clear on the room type and rate prior to taking the accomamdation.
The main entrance is sometimes blocked with a company parked to one side which makes it hard to get access

Room Tip: clarify before taking the room

This motel has become a regular whenever I visit Mt Gambier. The accommodation choice is excellent. The Standard Rooms are well appointed and the Deluxe Rooms are certainly that. I generally stay in one of the middle tier priced rooms and find the accommodation excellent. The rooms are modern (in fact every time i stay one or other part of the property is being refurbished, good size and beautifully furnished. The staff are cheery and friendly and the service is excellent. The Restaurant is very good, although a little expensive. One criticism is the lack of local wines available.. particularly as it is only a short distance to the Coonawarra areas. Overall, very, very good accommodation.

Room Tip: The more expensive rooms are really worth the extra cost.

The overwhelming impression of this motel is the noise. Should you ignore the warning and choose to stay here, opt for the more expensive rooms as the standard ones are sub-standard. They are also conveniently located at the intersection so you can drift off to sleep with the sound of trucks in your head. It's so bad that the walls vibrate.

You'll wake early to the sound of traffice roaring past. This morning I also enjoyed two lots of sirens and doof music so loud I could make out the words of the song.

The room itself is poor. It smells strongly of deodoriser but its so overpowering it gave me a headache. The queen bed is squashed against a wall so one of you will be stuck edging off the end of the bed as opposed to rolling and standing. Not suitable for anyone with hip or knee or mobility needs.

The shower is warm with a strong flow. The head is too short for those over 6ft. Nice toiletries including shampoo and conditioner.

Foxtel is provided but is the usual few poor channels. The tv is flat screen with ample digital channels. Decent size too (32"?).

Overall 2/10. We loved Mt Gambier but next time will make sure we stay at the Barn.

I have not stayed at this hotel as I am a local, but we do occasionally eat here, as was the case last weekend. We really like the modern elegance of the dining room and bar. It's much nicer than the crass plastic decor of the typical 'all you can eat' diner. The service is also very good indeed.
The menu is not extensive but it is interesting. The meals we had were served with some creative effort on the plate, and were TASTY, which is after all the main thing! The wine list is pretty good too.
This is not a cheap night out, but we like it for a really good meal together as a couple when we want to spoil ourselves.
