This restaurant is ok. Maybe we visited on an ok night but we cannot rave about our experience. Our pasta dishes were no better than average...mine was completely underseasoned and my wife's too dry as there was no sauce whatsoever. Although not too busy the food was just a bit too long in being served. The staff were very understanding and this has to be a big plus point for this establishment. We will give it another try as the reviews are so good but the high prices for simple pasta dishes is pushing it too far.

This is not the first time we have dined at this restaurant. We live locally and go there on a regular basis. Just like to let you know that every time we introduce friends to this place they also are left with the same wonderful dining experience
Last night we went with some friends. It was a beautiful balmy night and we were seated overlooking the beach and it was so nice welcoming the sunset with some pre dinner drinks. It is always so hard to make choices as the menu is tempting. However after much discussion etc we ordered the zucchini flowers and proscuiutto with rocket and grilled peach and antipasto platter to share
for entrees - perfectly presented and the taste of all dishes could not be faulted
Zucchini fried crispy in light light batter but still had fresh crunch. Prosciutto was sliced ever so thin and of top quality drizzled with balsamic and grilled peaches and rocket. And antipasto had all the yummy choices , olives, pickled veg artichokes pickled seafood cheese and with that came beautiful bread
Mains - although initially we were all going to order different we all decided on one of their signature dishes. The seafood catapalana - a Portuguese dish which is cooked in a copper vessel like a clam and that is how they bring it to the table. Plenty of seafood - crab, mussels, clams, calamari and prawns cooked in tomato and capsicum sauce. Smelt good tasted good and needless to say we all polished everything Also it is worth dunking bread into the sauce to mop up the juices
Although we were really full we ordered 2 desserts to share. The tiramisu and the chocolate pudding. Both were so light, chocolaty fresh and left a nice taste in the mouth
Staff very attentive and pleasant given that they had a very full restaurant
Will definitely keep praising this place so please do not change your style as it is a winner down at the marina at glenelg

My concern here is the owners not giving diners what they want. On a sunny albeit cool evening we were denied sitting outside. Why? Because too many people complain they are cold. Here's an idea, invest in gas heaters for alfresco dining which is common practice!! Happy to charge big dollars for rice and pasta, place humming must be pulling a fair bit in! Lash out guys, alfresco adds ambience to your place, who wants to be inside on a summers night?

Myself and partner visited on a Friday night. Found the Entertainment Boon offer and booked at the last minute. Fortunately they were able to hold a table for us until we arrived 30 mins later.
The food and service was outstanding. The view was lovely at sunset
Id suggest asking for a window table if possible
We will be back.

A business dinner was the reason for my visit to Esca at Glenelg. Overall you couldn't fault the service and meal. Wines were great too and the atmosphere lent itself well to good friendly conversation. Price, at around $70 a head for food and wine was perhaps a little more than I would have liked, but if you want a good restaurant experience then you wouldn't go past this. Location next to the sea lends itself well to a sunset meal.
