After booking a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment with a city view through Needitnow a week before our stay, but then reading reviews here afterwards, I was dreading our stay. However, we were pleasantly surprised upon arrival to find we had a gorgeous and very spacious 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment overlooking Colley Reserve/with some sea views.

We were a little disappointed that the main bedroom with a door to the balcony only had a double bed (hubby and I are tall) so we swapped with our teenage daughter and stayed in the second bedroom which had joined king singles. Since the second bedroom has no windows it can get a little stuffy if you don't have the airconditioning on. Our teenage son slept on one of the sofas since there was not a bed for him and he wasn't about to share a double with his sister. One of the sofas is a sofa bed but he was happy to just lay on the sofa itself rather than pull the bed out.

With two sofas in the lounge there was plenty of room for 4 or even 6 six people to sit. There was a television with Foxtel (basic) and a DVD player. There was desk which had a small stereo and a cable to connect your laptop to the internet (fee involved). The kitchen was well equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, oven and a smallish fridge. The small dining table has 4 chairs but there is an extra chair at the desk. There is plenty of wardrobe space in the 2 bedrooms. The main bathroom was huge with a very large shower cubicle and bath. The second bathroom was also a decent size. Both bathrooms had excellent water pressure and both had hairdryers. The laundry had a sink, washer and dryer.

We only stayed 2 nights but daily housekeeping came in after our first night and made the beds (or should I say re-made because I had already made them myself), replaced shampoos, soaps, dishcloth, dishwasher powder, tea towel, emptied bins, unpacked dishwasher .... which I did not expect.

Parking was $15.00 a night but we were willing to overlook that since we got a great deal through Needitnow. Upon arriving we were dealt with by a friendly and efficient member of staff .... but her co-worker was the opposite and reminded me of a robot.

Overall we had a very pleasant stay in Room 515 (5th Floor).

This is a tough review as it is totally based on having to sleep in the second of the two bedrooms. Had the review been based on thge main bedroom, it would have been totally different.

This was our third Oaks stay, and the previous two were fine, the first being one of the best places ever. We were a party of 4 couples using two apartments. Both apartments suffered the same problem, in that the second bedroom was straight off the lounge, between the master bedroom and the bathroom.

One unit had an ensuite, but no TV set in the master bedroom, and a second bathroom, the lounge overlooked the marina/sea.

The other unit had a master bedroom TV but no ensuite and a view to the town.

Although the size of the second bedrooms was fine, there was no window and access was a frosted glass, sliding 'wardrobe' door to ythe lounge. Neither room had a mirror or even a picture on the wall and either the term 'wardrobe' or 'cell' was deemed relevant.

We tried to get an alternative single bedroom apartment but the one offered seemed to be expensive so we stuck to the one allocated.

In the other unit, a kitchen cupboard was short of a shelf support, with the inevitable result of the pile of plates crashing to the floor as soon as the pile was touched!

The complex is effectiively three towers with a high proportion of tenanted or owner occupiers, so all individual apartments are probably privately owned judging by differncs in fittings. The pool is of a narrow indoor lap type and not really aimed at anything other than those swimming for exercise rather than relaxaton. There is also a sauna, steam room and small gym.

Reception staff was so-so but the building location itself was excellent. Clean, tidy and modern, but having to sleep in the cupboard we found to be less than satisfacory for the price we paid and we were totally unaware of this layout when we booked.

As with the other Oaks establishment the week before, a 55c a MINUTE internet charge is just not acceptable, when the bike hire place in town had free access and the cafe on the front had $2 for 15 minutes. Quite why hotels and apartments persist with grossly overcharging for internet access is beyond me.

We booked on the internet for a weeks stay in a one bedroom apartment. The apartment we were allocated on arrival had a badly stained carpet, the furniture was worn and the planter on the balcony had no plants but plenty of cigarette butts! The sink stopper did not fit which resulted in a waste of water . Also, a cooking utensil was found to be in a dangerous condition. We complained that it was by no means 4 star standard and asked for another room . After two nights we were given the room next door which was completely different, clean and well furnished and which we were very pleased with. The receptionist who arranged this was very helpful. We were not happy about paying $15 per day for the car park as we have never had to pay for parking space at similar apartment hotels elsewhere in Australia . We had looked at the Liberty Towers building on Oaks website before we arrived which appeared to have a large outdoor car park and since returning home and looking this up again we see that the building is in fact Glenelg Beachside Apartments and NOT the Oaks! We also had difficulty finding reception which was tucked away in a back street. The location was good and was within walking distance of cafes/restaurants etc.
Rating this hotel is difficult as we would give one star to the first apartment allocated and four stars to the second but overall two-three stars is fair.

We stayed here for a family visit to see relatives in Adelaide and having stayed at a NSW Oaks resort only the week before booked this as it was also an Oaks property and we imagined that they would be consistent – How wrong we were.

We booked a 2 bedroom apartment and it was small – The second bedroom was an added on box like structure in the dining room! Not very good if you are a little claustrophobic! The bathroom was dirty (mould in the shower) and we had no towels in the room. When we called to arrange some we had to go to reception and collect them ourselves – I know not a big deal but not a service either.

We were a little put out that we had to pay $15.00 per day to park – Most places I have stayed at before allow a parking space with the room even our family in Adelaide was shocked at that.

We would not stay at the Oaks Liberty towers again – I am sure that we could find a better apartment style accommodation and I would not recommend this property.

My fiance and I have previously stayed at Glenelg at both the Stamford and The Oaks Plaza Pier on the waterfront. We decided to give the Oaks Liberty Towers a try which is located just over the road on Colley Terrace a short walk to the beach and the local Glenelg restaurants along the marina. We booked our accommodation on Wotif.com which the description boasted the great views available and the recently completed building offering modern new rooms. When making our booking for four nights we requested a room with a view to the beach or marina. We arrived by car from the airport and our first difficulty was finding the main reception which isn't on Colley Terrace it is in the back street entrance as these apartments are part of a three tower complex which have been sold to both owner occupiers, investors and partly operated by the Oaks apartment operation. When checking in nothing was mentioned about our request for a room with a view, we were dealt with efficiently however the staff member did nothing more than the basics. We enquired about parking our car and were told that a car space could be purchased for $15per night which we accepted, although have stayed at so many other serviced apartments which do not charge for parking.

When arriving at our room we were surprised to see that our room didn't have the view we requested but was in fact looking out to the Adelaide hills. When questioning reception about the availability of a room with a beach or marina view the staff member explained that our request could not always be fulfilled which is understandable particularly in high season, however nothing was said when we checked in.

The room itself is modern and has all the facilities you would expect for what you pay. LCD TV including a smaller LCD TV in the bedroom, stereo sound system and DVD player (although we later discovered the stereo system was broken) The kitchen has all the equipment you expect in a modern layout. The bathroom is totally separate to the bedroom which is unusual for a one bedroom apartment.

The balcony is a good size which includes a table and two comfortable chairs. However this is where we notice the poor level of cleanliness. There is a planter box, minus any plants, and instead we discover a lot of cigarette butts and prawn shells, and would you believe egg shells which have been left there by previous occupiers. There are also spider webs and the tiles on the balcony and the glass balastrade don't look like they have been cleaned in months.

For some reason our room didn't have the usual self locking door latch which is usually found on this level of accommodation, which means you have to lock the door manually when leaving the room. To our amazement after spending a day at Glenelg beach we returned to our room to discover that the door had been left unlocked by housekeeping.

In summary we were somewhat disappointed that some basic fundamentals of what should be expected of an Oaks level of accommodation are clearly lacking at this particular venue. The service we experienced was basic and merely processing bookings, the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired and for what you pay you would expect a much better package.

We won't be coming back to Oaks Liberty Tower, however we would recommend the Oaks Plaza Pier opposite as we had a good experience there two years ago. Hopefully they haven't chnaged the level of service and quality there in the past couple of years.
