“Market on Maxwell review”

I am a local to the glenelg area, and I have been a regular to this fantastic family owned restuarant for years. Where to begin from the great service to the fresh food to Con's amazing milkshakes and coffee. Con's drinks are full with flavour is chocolate milkshakes are an experience within itself, the milkshake is cold and thick so much so that the straw stands up. The owners are always welcoming and willing to please you are always greeted with a bright smile with extremely caring staff. One of my most delightful enjoyments of this great destination is Paul one of the owners who always strikes conversation with all customers. The food is fresh and always hygenically handled there is not a better restuarant with higher standards of hygeine and care in food handling than what you see every day at this fantastic family destination. I could not find any negative aspects of this highly regarded cafe, the price is excellent for the quality you receive, anyone who has a negative review clearly has not visited market on maxwell with an open mind.

“So much potential, but sadly lacking any sparkle”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 23, 2013

This cafe was started by a guy who had a niche idea about 12 years ago, a market style cafe. It worked and had a bit of a cult following. Since then it has been sold at least twice and the current owners do not have the same passion as the original owner.

Market on Maxwell has sooo much potential but it just doesn't get there despite being a popular spot for cyclists on weekends and retirees during the week. Coffee is average and the food is overpriced for what it is, prices are actually cheaper in the city! We used to be regulars but stopped going when the current owners hiked up the prices and the quality of the coffee dropped. We decided recently to give it another go and were sadly disappointed.

This would be a great breakfast/brunch spot but sadly they don't offer that. In need of a makeover, looking a bit tired.

Wish I could give it a better wrap!

“Great Place”

Nice atmosphere with good service and friendly staff.
Enjoyed our dining. The locals seem to dig it.
Will go back for sure.

“Great little cafe in Glenelg East”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2012

This family-run gem is a favourite of locals in Glenelg East. It's situated in a classic, Adelaide corner-shop building, alongside the Glenelg-Adelaide tram line. The main window has a lovely art deco swoop to it. The interior isn't going to win any design awards but has warm wooden floor boards and galvanised iron features on the counter. They do a variety of fresh-cut sandwiches on your choice of bread, roll, focaccia etc. Good, honest food. They have an espresso machine and a wide variety of cakes and biscuits. The owners and associated family members understand that making people feel welcome keeps them coming back. My mum lives locally and comes here often. Everyone knows her name and she feels comfortable sitting in the window with a book, drinking her habitual green tea. She brings everyone here.
