Glenelg Beach Hostel
Reviewed May 14, 2013

Stayed here a week and have no complaints. The rooms were tidy and the beds comfortable, had very nice sleeps in them. The hostel can be a bit of a maze at times, but seeing as it's a few Victorian era looking townhouses knocked together to make this hostel, i dont see any issue with this as the charm and uniqueness it creates, makes up for it. The kitchen was a little on the small side, but adequate. There is a bar downstairs, i had no issues with noise from here, maybe i stayed when there was no good nights!

The location is what makes this hostel. Situated in lovely Glenelg, 2 min walk into the towncentre, 2-3mins to the nice sandy beach. A 10min tram ride into city centre is only 2min walk away also. Also 3 or 4 decent bars/nightclubs within 5 mins walking.

Decoratively a little tired, but full of character and ticks all the boxes. Excellent location in Glenelg and very accessible to the tram into Adelaide city (20-30 minutes). The free wifi, tea & coffee as well as breakfast toast all appreciated. Staff helpful and everything works.
Friday night we had live music which was good, fun and busy. Saturday there was a DJ and again a great atmosphere. Glenelg is very laid back, and the hostel reflects that too. Its the sort of place you could just keep extending your stay at - I did!

After staying in a few hostels before this one - we learned you just need to get the "vibe" of the hostel before passing any judgement. This place is great for location - right on the street with tons of fun restaurants and shops and the beach an easy walk down the street. The hostel was clean and we felt secure. Our room was nice ---- and we loved being connected to the outdoor deck where we had our breakfast every morning. The kitchen was okay - the lounge was a bit small, we didn't spend much time in either. We did use the washing facilities - which was nice. The bathroom/shower we used was private and clean. We liked it here, the building is really old, but has character.

Room Tip: We hade the private double bed room connected to the deck. Although we loved the deck, we were abov...

My first time in a hostel and fingers crossed they are all like this! Rooms are clean beds are comfy and never had to queue for a hot shower! Staff are friendly and helpful and it has its own bar with happy hour. Not in central Adelaide but located inbetween the bus and tram stops after talking to fellow travellers since Glenelg is a great choice with the beach on your doorstep bars pubs and restaurants a plenty i reccomend 100%

This hostel has a perfect location - right off the tram from the city, about 2 blocks away from the beautiful Glenelg beach. The owner and staff are super friendly and will help you out with anything you need. The beds are nice and comfy, and there are no bunk beds! The bathrooms are clean. There's a really nice beer garden in the back. The only bad things are that the kitche was sort of like a maze, and the drinks are expensive.

We got dropped off here by an Adelaide local and loved it!

Great location, close to the supermarket, shops & public transport. We had a private room which was a good size and the bathroom was kept clean. Kitchen was well-equipped, nice picnic tables etc out the back, free breakfast, reasonable price for what it is!

The only thing I didn't really like was the lounge area (attached to the bar/reception) was quite dark and could do with aircon.

Would definitely stay again!

Stayed here for 4 months while I was working nearby, and I absolutely loved it. Definitely one of my favourite hostels I've stayed in since I've started traveling. It has really friendly staff, a cheap bar single beds, free wi-fi, and a clean, well-equipped kitchen with free breakfast every day. It's also just round the corner from the beach and the shops and cafes/restaurants/fast food stores etc. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Room Tip: The rooms on the street-side are quieter on the weekend, when there is a DJ playing downstairs.
