We stayed for one night in this hotel and even that was too much. From check in, we knew we had made a mistake. We mentioned that we had breakfast included in our room rate, however when we made the booking we didn't realise that our flight left at 6am. We were told that there was nothing they could do. No alternatives offered, such as a drink voucher or anything like that. So we sucked it up and made our way to our room. It was a confused mishmash of dated furniture with a seaside vibe (by way of the seashell mirror). The bathroom had some recent repair work - a bit of plaster slapped over where the old handrail used to be. They hadn't bothered sanding it back and painting it. On the plus side - at least the room was clean. On checkout (at 5.00am) we went to validate our parking ticket and were told that it was $20. I questioned it and then was told that it was in fact $10. We were too tired to argue any more and just paid it. I have just checked our booking and it says very plainly 'self parking included for one vehicle'. Yes it is only $10 but is is the principle of the matter. I have stayed at better 4 star hotels. The good points of this place were: concierge staff were very nice, the bar was a really nice place to relax on a Sunday afternoon with live music and a few drinks.

Here at the Stamford Grand Adelaide, we pride ourselves on providing exceptional customer service so I am very disappointed to hear that this was not your experience in this instance. Customer service training is always a high priority here and, as it happens, we have just rolled out an updated program that every member of our staff will be attending over the next month.

You will be pleased to know that we are in the final stages of planning a refurbishment of our guest rooms and we expect works to commence next year.

While I regret that this situation has damaged our valued relationship I do hope that we may look forward to the opportunity of welcoming you back to the Stamford Grand Adelaide in the future.

Really nice hotel ,slight step back in time but nothing wrong with that ,rooms was perfect ,views amazing,kids loved ,the open air pool ,trams just outside for going into centre ,just fabulous,helpful staff

Room Tip: Ask for sea view ,however the other side looks over the city ,for perfect views get a room from 6th floor upwards

Staff and Location are the high points of this hotel, low points are cost of parking and the ridiculous cost of in house WiFi. As a business traveller they need to look at bundling these 2 items into their offerings , not rose petals and chocolates.
Silly that you can book with a thrid party cheaper than directly with the hotel.
Have been spending 1 to 2 weeks per month there but may move on if the parking and wifi costs do not improve .

We enjoyed this hotel because of it's position. Get a room facing the ocean - lovely sunsets. The staff were pleasant and efficient and the bar off the main lobby (can't remember the name) was very comfortable and well furnished. Unfortunately I agree with some other reviews that the rooms need an update - there is quite a bit of rust around and some older fittings in bathrooms. No furniture on the balcony was a real disappointment - even in the cold weather the opportunity to rug up and look out at the ocean would have been nice. And, finally the cost of Wi-Fi was just silly. This should definitely be free.

Room Tip: Definitely get a room ocean side - the sunsets are beautiful and there were dolphins on one day.

POSITIVES - Room was quite big. Breakfast was great lots of choice. Very quiet. Staff were great, good customer service.

NEGATIVES - The balcony is pathetic no furniture so nowhere to sit, very, very small. Pillows are extremely flat not comfortable at all. Asked for feather ones but it seems they don't have any as we were not accomodated. If you want hot food sold luke warm order the toasted ham sandwich (only said ham sandwich didn't mention toasted on menu) from the grand bar, disgusting, even the hot chips were luke warm. YUCK. Broken tiles in the bathroom.

Room Tip: Stay at the Playford in the city, a bit more expensive but much better.
