Quite by accident, we found ourselves in Glenelg between Christmas and New Year, early one evening, with no booking. Cardone's looked lightly booked and we tried our luck.

An exquisite meal, washed down with good sparkling wine was a highlight of our trip. Oysters, Calimari and grilled meat were perfect. The service, attentive without intrusion, added to the pleasure.

I'd go a long way for a meal like this.

No wonder Cardone's is the number one restaurant in Glenelg (as per this website). Just think about it and all the competition in the area....one mean feat! This amazing restaurant ticked ALL the boxes - delectable food, delightful ambiance, great wine list and the menu.....WOW!! What more can I say? Oh......and the service was impeccable.

It's a good start when you look at the menu and you can't decide what have, cause you want to try it all. With a little help from Nick, Owner/Manager, we ordered a variety of entree's to share - oysters, calimari, ciabatta all served in varying ways, very fresh, tasty and leaving us with the feeling for more.
After struggling to decide what to have for mains, we asked Nick what their "signature" dish is and he said that all their dishes are signature. "It's all good!" From the pastas, meat and fish mains ordered, he was right....it was all good. Everyone was full of praise all cooked to perfection.
The girls ordered several deserts to share, which were also very good in presentation and taste.
The only issue I have with this restaurant is that I now have to go back there to try the other dishes on their menu!
Well done and see you soon.

We went as a table of 5. Ordered the Seafood Platter, Belly Pork, Salt and Pepper Squid and Oyster Kilpatrick.

The Oyster was ok but salty. Nothing spectacular in terms of taste, but at least it's not watery. The Belly Pork was perfectly cooked but the sauce was very salty. The Salt and Pepper Squid was the star of the night. It was perfectly cooked, very juicy and tender. Sauce was very tasty.

The Seafood Platter was another disappointment. Squid was good, so at least the chef was very good with squid. Fish was a little tasteless and lobster was tiny and not much taste. It was drowning in a sauce that completely covers the lobster flavour. Prawns were tiny too.

The one item that I enjoyed the most.... the but potatoes. They were crispy and tasty. Maybe should have ordered steak and pasta instead. Very disappointed and I doubt I will willingly go back again.

We came without reservation and luckily we found a spot. Service was very friendly and quick, food was great, wine cold - and we all enjoyed our dinner...!

My wife and I dropped in for lunch and were seated straight away by very friendly staff. There was good ambience in the restaurant as it was very busy. Service was brisk but it was the food that disappointed. We ordered the signature dish- Cardone's platter- and found that it was a contest between quantity and quality. There was loads of it (more than we could eat) but all the fish and seafood was covered abundantly in thick breadcrumb batter. The scallops were quite tough and the crumb fell off the scallop on cutting it. The barramundi fillets were fine and the calamari the star of the dish(?). The prawns however were so heavily covered it was difficult to distinguish head from tail and were quite tasteless. We had to order 3 refills of lemons and aiolli as the original portion was not enough. Also we felt that the cut potatoes were too dry for the dish. We left the restaurant with the aftertaste of batter rather then seafood which was a pity. The garlic bread was sensational though!!! The high prices are justified by the quantity of the food rather than the quality and I have to say we were expecting something better.
