La Mancha Holiday units are located in a tiny street called St Johns Row just up from the opulent Stamford Plaza Hotel. A week's stay in peak holiday time at la Mancha will cost you about $AUS1000. There are only 8 car parks for over 24 units, so at times there was a problem with car parking. La Mancha have a reciprocal parking agreement with the Stamford hotel and they will reimburse your parking fee, but it was full everytime we tried, as it was during Xmas/new year. The units in themselves were clean and stocked with the basic necessities and linen was changed 3 times. Fridge, stove, iron, toaster, microwave and aircon worked well. Glenelg beach was just across the walk way with bbq facilities and the jetty nearby. Shops, a Coles supermarket and boutiques were a short walk away. Laundry was on site and a wash cost 2x$1 coins with washing powder supplied. The clothes airer in apartment was handy for clothes if you didn't want to use the dryer which cost $AUS1. We watched the New Year's Eve fireworks over Glenelg beach from our balcony. The stairs are a steep climb if you are on the first floor, which would be unsuitable for the elderly or disabled. Be aware that some shops and major supermarkets are closed on Xmas Day, Dec 26th and New Years Day. You can buy basics like bread, butter, milk, jam, water etc in the convenience stores in the main street.
