We were on a family outing in Toowoomba and found this modern renovated pub on the corner that offered window seating and a clever way of serving your meals - cook your own on a hot rock. So we stopped for lunch.
We chose a window seat booth, however there were tables with bar stools, normal 2-4 seat tables or longer communal tables on offer if thats your style.
The variety of food offered on the menu appeared to cover all tastes and styles with the enjoyment coming from cooking your own meat on the hot rock and eating it hot. The side salad was disappointing in its size but was tasty. Make sure you ask for a resting plate otherwise you won't have anywhere to rest your meat once its cooked.
The only disappointment with the food was the additional bowl of chips that looked like frozen McCains reheated and not that nice for the price. The meal sizes were generous and the girls put up the white flag at 3/4 distance - they just could not get to the finish!
In addition to the meals - the service was attentive, flamboyant and entertaining from a couple of guys that were passionate about their jobs and liked a good laugh. It added a positive note to the dining experience and the overall impression we got from dining there.
Drink Service was good - but we, and the other tables around us, had to ask for water for the tables throughout the meal. This was the only real negative.
Now for the dessert menu - OMG save space or give yourself sometime to digest your main meal as this would have to be the best dessert menu from a Pub style restaurant I have seen in a very long time. I am not a dessert person normally but I could not go past the Profiterole Stack with hot chocolate fudge sauce.....The desserts are well worth the effort as they are to die for and are reasonably priced.
