Our family visited this motor inn on the 20th December for a one night stay. Initially when we booked we spoke with a lovely gentleman and I explained we had 3 children ages, 13, 8 and 7. He offered a two room motel room at a rate of $175.00. Whoa!! Gone are the days you pay motor inn prices. I can book 5 star in Brisbane City for that. As there are not many hotels that accommodate a family of five I went ahead and booked it.
When we arrived we were greated by a very lovely lady, can't remember her name. She handed our key to us. We asked about local restaurants hours of the pool etc and she was very accommodating. Very helpful.
When we saw our room was on the ground level and faced the road my husband said, "I hope the noise of the road isnt too loud". I inspected the windows and thought they were double glazed and we decided it would be OK. It was only for one night.
The room itself had a very large living area with 2 single beds and a 2 seater leather lounge which folded out to bed. There was a separate room with a double size bed and bathroom. The room was extremely clean and surroundings pleasant. The beds were comfortable. Had a microwave, sink and small refigerator which was stocked with mini bar priced soft drinks etc. Coffee and tea facilities provided. Oh also there were 2 air conditioners one in the main room and one in the second bedroom.
However this is where the compliments finish.
We found out the T.V. in the double bedroom didn't receive normal tv channels only the in house movie channel and pay tv channels (austar??).
We were woken early at 4am with the noise of the traffic. Very unpleasant. If you have been travelling for hours and need a lay in - DON'T BOOK. The braking of the trucks that noise is something that you just can't sleep through. The hotel is situated on a very busy 4 lane street.
When we checked out the gentleman that served us handed us our receipt as I had already paid for the room and said "so thats it". Not how was your stay, everything ok?. Hope to see you again, so I thought bugger it. I said is that the only larger room you have to accommodate a family of 5 because if I had of known it was on the road and very noisy I would have reconsidered. His response was very cold and he looked at his check in book and said we have 2 bedroom apartments that you could have booked they are up the back. I said I wasn't offered them when I booked so didn't know they existed. He simply said maybe we were full (this wasn't the case as we drove out and saw only 4 cars parked out in front of the rest of the complex).
He didn't offer compensation or an apology just an OH WELL sort of response and kept on carrying on with his paperwork.
Anyway if you want a clean, comfortable motel room, don't mind paying 5 star prices and can handle noise this hotel is for you.
