Stayed o/night and on first impressions form the exterior I thought, what have I done. After entering though, was met with renovations and a quite pleasant interior reception and restaurant...plus air conditioned...you need air conditioning in the Isa!!. Rooms were clean, tidy and spacious. Only gripe was the bathroom where the shower is over a bath and the shower curtain hangs into this area and clings whilst showering. A glass screen or reno's to the shower area would be great Service was good, location is center of town. Would stay again here...hope their renovations extend to the outside.

I recently stayed here overnight and found the exterior slightly dated. Entering the reception area you're met with renovations however the staff are forthcoming about any impact they might have on your stay. Check in went well, quick and to the point.

The rooms are standard hotel rooms, obviously a little aged but it's apparent the hotel has been trying to keep them updated. Bed is comfortable, shower has good water pressure, television has limited number of 'pay tv' channels and two free movie channels.

You share a common balcony with every other room on your floor. I didn't have any problems during my stay but would recommend taking precautions as you would anywhere else and keep your balcony door locked.

Breakfast included in the room price was quite reasonable, although a hot breakfast does incur quite a steep price increase.

Overall a comfortable stay, would be interesting to see how the renovations turn out.

Unfortunately, this second stay at the Ibis Styles Mt Isa (Friday, 4.10.13) has not changed my previous opinion of this hotel since a visit in April 2013 (see my previous review). However, as my son paid for the room (#125) I had not much say in the matter. My main problem, this time, was with the service. There was only one staff member on duty on Saturday morning to manage the breakfast sittings and the reception desk. Needless to say, this unfortunate person had problems to cope with the numerous tasks at hand. Whilst the continental breakfast, included in the room rate (AUD $180.00) was acceptable, an 'out of service' coffee machine put a big dent in my anticipated brekkie experience.... Instant coffee was all that was offered for such a premium room rate. The room (décor, furnishings) was average, except for the shower which was excellent in terms of water pressure and temperature setting. Sleep quality was very good.

There is a small open pool area which is fine, although it may get crowed during high hotel occupancy rates. However, at the time, I was the only person enjoying a swim. I am unable to comment on the food offered at the in- house restaurant. We had dinner at the Isa Hotel, just a few metres away across the road (good value for money and highly recommendable). In summary: I hesitate to come again, unless everything else in town is booked out.

Room Tip: Ask for room away from the main streets

Thank you for the feedback regarding your stay at the ibis Styles Mount Isa.

I am sorry to see that your expectations were not met in regards to some areas of your visit. The issue with the coffee machine has been rectified and should not cause any more problems. Our pool does get used regularly by our guests, but never to the point of overcrowded. I am sorry that you did not get to experience our restaurant, as we have been getting some great reviews lately from locals and house guests alike, such as "The food is above average for Australia and prices are not out-of-line" "Restaurant serves good food and nice overall design". Once again, thank you for the feedback, we appreciate the time taken by you.

Upon departure of the room, I took my personal effects to my car at 4.30AM intending to return to my room but my rook card did not activate the external door off the hotel from the outside so I could not return to my room. I therefore had nowhere to go so left Mt Isa an hour earlier that planned. The aircon was old and noisy. The external lights outside shone in the room through the bathroom even with the glass bathroom door closed which was annoying as the room was not dark enough to sleep. The staff were very good during my stay. I noticed that the resturaunt was not patronised often by guests in the evening and I actually did not eat there due to the cost of the meals and went to the The Isa Hotel for my main meals. I travel out to Mt Isa every five weeks for business.
