“Nice place but a bit expensive”
Reviewed July 15, 2013 via mobile

Stayed here just one night in an un powered camp site. Cost was $43 whereas others have been costing between $20 and $33. Camp kitchen is well equiped and clean and the toilet block is also clean but very small with 3 showers (with th toilet inside aswel like an ensuit) for male and female. There is a larger block on the other side of the park aswell. Staff were very friendly.

We stayed here as a family for one night on our way to Brisbane over the Christmas period. It was a cute cabin with all that was needed. The only down side was, the two air conditioners in the bedrooms didn't want to work, and as it is extremely hot in mount isa it made for an uncomfortable nights sleep. We didn't find this out until we returned later in the evening, and as we left very early in the morning we took it in our stride and soldiered on.
Other than that it was a pleasant stay. I'm not sure about the 'dust bowl' comments in the other reviews as we found it very green there at the time, however we did only see one side of the park (closest to the main road). We would stay here again if passing through.

After a quick look at the outsides of three other parks and walking round the inside of one, I chose to stay here (there are two Discovery parks in the Isa, this is the Argylla on the outskirts of town, on the Cloncurry road). The managers were friendly and helpful, giving me a good spot and price as I was only staying one night in a tent. The site was dusty but still enough grass cover considering the time of year. The camp kitchen was a good facility, one of the best equipped that I've come across I had a comfortable stay and will use this park again.

stay here. The cabins are better than most hotels, the road noise is fine (mention it when you book) and as long as you mossie repellent, all is good. The air-con works well. The tv does not muck up, the bed was lovely and the neighbours are generally quiet. It is a caravan park, don't expect anything else, but dollar for dollar it beats the hotels in town for noise and value. 4 years of sleepovers in the Isa and I swear by it.

Room Tip: Ask for a cabin away from the road

Oh Discovery Parks, what have your done!!! Under previous owners and management this park (Argylla) was green, trimmed, tidy, well run and a pleasure (and fun) to visit and stay. Since the change of ownership and management the park has been allowed to run down to an embarrassing degree. It is now an unkempt dustbowl. Water is not an issue here at this time of year as both the dams are quite full and the park has its own bore ... but no one bothers to turn on a sprinkler.

Travellers are told to "find your own site", and apart from the problems of trying to fit a 22 ft van into a 16ft site, the implications of where to find someone in an emergency are quite frightening.

No one is shown to a site and no assistance is offered to those "newbies" who may be having trouble reversing into the sites.

Visitor after visitor informs us that they will never stay here again and in spite of all the adverse comments being brought to the attention of both local and regional management, nothing has changed.

Why would someone allow a service business to deteriorate to such a degree? It is beyond my comprehension.

We recently stayed here for business for 2 nights. Whilst its not the prettiest caravan park I have ever stayed in, the facilities were clean and the staff were helpful. As for previous posts on here regarding it being a dust bowl - It's Mt Isa, not the Gold Coast - water isnt quite as prevalent. After taking a drive around town and the suburban streets its easy to see the whole town is a dust bowl. Im sure it would look better after the wet season, but nobody wants to travel out there for fear of road closures.
We will stay there again!

We took a group of juniors to compete in the tennis open for the weekend and shared 2 villas between 9 of us. Very enjoyable with camp kitchen which enabled us to feed the gang easily. Bus was easily able to be parked adjacent. We thought the price a little expensive but I guess ok. Rooms are very functional and overall the weekend was very good. A little out of town but still close enough.
