Hadn't been here for a while and heard that they had won "Best Indian Restaurant" in Qld (maght be Australia) so thought we'd try it again. Was a last minute, Friday evening dinner but were able to get an early (6.30pm) sitting.
Welcomed straight away by very friendly staff who explained menu and how the banquets etc worked. We chose the fixed menu banquet signature selection for $36pp. First dish was a tomato soup taster in a shot glass, with a papadum. Very nice.
Then we were served the mixed entree - onion bhaji, chicken tikka, vege pakora and seekh kebab khass - served with 2 great sauces - one mint and one tamarind. Platter was served quickly, food was hot and fresh and was very good.
This was followed by butter chicken, lamb rogan josh and a vege dish - navrattan korma. Served with steamed rice and plain nann. We also asked for a side of cucumber raita. All the dishes were good sized serves and we were certainly not left hungry.
All through the meal, different staff asked how the meal was and whether there was anything else we needed. Overall great impression given by them.
Only down side is that customers coming in for takeaway have to walk past the tables to pick up their food from the counter. This means that there's constant traffic walking past the table so it's not necessarily relaxing.
Having said that, it isn't necessarily too distracting. We'll be back - one of the best meals we've had for a while.
