“An authentic touch of Britian at Tamborine”
Reviewed June 11, 2012

We are currently staying at Tamborine and were recommended to try this little British Gem. With some friends down from Brisbane and very keen English pub advocates we headed in for a Sunday lunch with a British flair. The diamond jubilee in full celebrations with many decorations celebrating this event. However, this only added to the many other decorative and fun items of
interest.

The service was very friendly and welcoming. Our lunch was a true reflection of its heritage. Delicious ! Try the beef and Guinness pie!

“My - how things have change”
Reviewed October 30, 2011

We had told relatives about this English Pub we found on the way to Mt. Tamborine, so when they visited we thought we better take them there.
New owners, Stuart & Vicki bought the place last November and the transformation (without loosing atmosphere) has been remarkable. The addition of Alfresco & gift shop has made a big difference along with the management & staff attitude. You feel very relaxed & welcome. The menu is real "Pommy tucker" cooked by Pommy chefs. Definitely worth a visit (or two).

“Nothing like a 'real' English pub”
Reviewed July 23, 2011

Lacks atmosphere... Boring menu choices.
Our meal took over an hour to arrive on a less than busy lunch service. Roast turkey was not real turkey - pale/ tasteless and uninteresting.
Cheesecake was nice-would've been better without the sickly caramel sauce.
So disappointing... Would not recommend....

“Excellent food, fabulous atmosphere . . . for dinners, not drinkers.”
Reviewed October 8, 2010

OK so the Fox & Hound Country Inn was originally an actual pub in England that was dismantled, shipped to Australia in containers, and reassembled in the Gold Coast hinterland. When you walk in it is seriously just like a typical pub you would find in England - it's very nice (my husband is English so we've been to many pubs in the UK). There is one BIG difference however between pubs in the UK and the Fox & Hound . . . there is no bar area as such to sit down with friends and have a few drinks. There is a beer garden out side where you could just have drinks (weather permitting) but no suitable area indoors. Inside is set up only for diners.

The food is very very good here. Personally I've had; the Duck Liver Pate (best pate I've had - ever!), Onion Bhajis, Liver & Bacon and the Lamb Shanks - all were absolutely delicious. On my last visit the someone at the next table ordered the curry and it smelt so good! I'm definitely having that next!

Now regards the owner who was mentioned in the last post . . . I've noticed myself that his heart just doesn't seem to be in the place, heaven knows why because it is such a charming, cosy establishment. The owners wife is lovely and I expect she keeps a close eye on her husband for damage control : ) Although the owner lacks the warmth and people skills you would expect in a publican, we love the place and will continue to go back.
