“Great View, Excellent Location, Friendly Efficient Service”
Reviewed October 30, 2011

We arrived at Mantra with our 2 young kids at night time and were a little weary, but thankfully the check-in was friendly and efficient and we were in our room in no time at all. I had previously requested a room "as high up as possible" and we were given the 9th floor so the view was brilliant. We were on the right hand side of the building (Tweed Heads side) and this captures the morning sun so I would definitely request this side again.

The room itself was better than the web-site displays with quite modern furniture, modern kitchen, very large balcony with access from both bedrooms and the lounge. The only strange thing was that they provided our kids with a double bed instead of 2 singles, odd because they knew we were travelling with kids. Although I didn't complain because our kids are so young that we knew it wouldn't make any difference to their sleeping habits anyway.

We thought all staff were friendly and many of them would chat to us in the hallways and lifts. I did ask for a late checkout because our flight was pushed back 4 hours and they could only offer me an extra hour at a charge of $20 which I thought was a bit stingy. However, they kept our bags for us and gave us a key to the pool (and toilets, showers) which I thought was quite reasonable given that we were hanging around for approx 6 hours after check-out.

The location is also perfect right across the road from the beach, childrens playground and BBQ's. There are also plenty of bars, cafe's and restaurants to the left, right and behind the hotel. We had a fantastic holiday and were even treated to dolphins on our second last day and whales which we spotted from our balcony waving us goodbye on our last hour in the resort.

We arrived to uninterested staff and a first floor "ocean view" apartment that looked out onto trees and the street. I guess if you squinted you could faintly see the ocean! My friends actually laughed when I showed them a photo of the "view". The bed was hard, the hairdryer was broken, lights in the lounge room broken. We were supposed to stay two nights but had enough after one! Life's too short for crappy accommodation. Oh and don't forget your toothbrush....even though they claim to be 4 star when I enquired whether they had the normal toothbrush\toothpaste packs that you would expect in a 4 star I was told to " just go up to Aldi in the next block"... Lots of other nice apartments in Coolangatta to choose from!

We pride ourselves on customer service and our fantastic views. Even our ground floor rooms have stunning ocean views. As per the overwhelming majority of reviews, our staff go out of their way to assist where possible.

Check-in was nice and fast. We were on the 6th floor, nice view. We stayed in the 3 bedroom appartment and it was a bit small, compared to other 3 bedroom appartments I`ve stayed in. Overall the hotel served its purpose, we only stayed one night. Its near the airport which is why we stayed here. I don`t think I would return to this hotel in the near future.

Dear AussieTraveller555,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

We are always pleased to receive feedback. The families we have stay with us in our 3 Bedrooms generally find them more than accommodating - the rooms frequently comfortably cater for up to seven people.

We pride ourselves on customer service and are glad you appreciate our hassle-free check-in. Our proximity to the airport is just one of the many benefits our property offers for any length of stay.

We do hope when you next make the trek down the M1, you will further explore the advantages of staying at Mantra Coolangatta Beach.

Coolangatta is a fantastic place and the Mantra Coolangatta is right in the heart of it. Don't worry if you don't get a high floor as we were initially disappointed with the 2nd floor room, but it was superb. We had a great view across the park and beach. More important ask for an 03 room on whatever floor as the all day sun, from 10am until dark, was amazing. There are walks everywhere around Coolongatta and the Mantra tops it off by walking out the front door and into the heart of the bar and restaurant area.
The rooms are comfortable and the bedroom had a great view as well. We found the rooms quiet and there was a lot of privacy.
You won't be disappointed by staying here

Room Tip: If you are coming from Brisbane airport get a train to Nerang then a bus, it was a lot quicker than...

Long story short - We made a complaint about noise (ie. a 3.30am party that started up) and asked to be moved the next day as the culprits were permanent residents of the hotel.

Endured much unhelpfulness in trying to get this resolved including being told we would have to pay a cleaning fee if we moved to another room. When asked for a refund we were refused. So we basically lost over $200.

Besides that, there are far nicer hotels on this strip. I would avoid this place to avoid disappointment.

Dear LeisaO,

Thank you for taking the time to post your thoughts on this forum.

Unfortunately noise in busy Hotels does occur from time to time. We do love our guests to stay and enjoy themselves but very occasionally this may run late.

The good news is we have a strict no party policy and once we are made aware of a noise issue, it is shut off by our General Manager within 5 minutes.

We do hope when you next venture down the M1, you will let us look after you again.

This beautifully located accomodation really lived up to it's name - our personal mantra was "we will relax" and we certainly did. Whilst this is not 5 star luxury - it is very clean, all amenities are available to enable self-contained living, and the view is SENSATIONAL!! We were delighted to watch the sunrise, the whales heading back to Antarctica, the ocean, and the sunset. In fact it was the BEST place to be on our roomy balcony! We had 2 teenage boys with us and they had a wonderful time - everything is such close walking distance. They surfed, we relaxed! Restaurants galore - our favourite is just downstairs - open for the most amazing breakfasts - all through the day, sensational meals and to die for desserts and coffee! The staff were extremely helpful - not one complaint from us. Thank you Mantra Coolangatta for making our stay so perfect!!!
