Owner description: Under the careful and crafty eyes of our Distillers, Blenders and Bondsmen, millions of litres of Bundaberg Rum are aged to perfection here at the Bundaberg Rum Distillery. After protecting and ageing our rums since the 70s, the grand old guardian of the distillery Bondstore #7, has been given new life by being transformed into our immersive Bundaberg Rum Museum. Inside, you’ll walk through a series of 75,000 litre American White Oak Vats – the very same vats which have matured hundreds of thousands of litres of rum (after being emptied and rebuilt of course). Inside these vats live a sensory experience where you can see, touch and smell your way through our rich history in creating Australia’s Favourite Rum – Bundaberg Rum. Please ensure that you arrive at least 20-30 mins early for your tour, especially for the last tour of the day and during school holiday periods. Unfortunately Flammable devices; matches and lighters, as well as any item with a battery including; watches, cameras, and mobile phones, pose a fire hazard to the Distillery and cannot be taken on tour. Lockers are provided free of charge to store these items whilst inside the Distillery on tour. If you have a medically required device such as a hearing aid, give us a call in advance so we can make arrangements for you to bring those items with you.

This is well worth doing! You have 2 ticket options, one for just the museum part and the other is the experience where you get to go inside the distillery and see how it all works. YOU MUST only do the experience as the museum on it's own is not worth it. We had Scott as our tour guide and he was great. He has worked in the factory and is very knowledgeable as well as funny. Due to it being the holidays and the distillery being closed we got to actually go onto the floor in the bottling part of the tour as opposed to the glass viewing area. You also get to taste 2 different rums at the end of the tour! I recommend the liquor, it is in fact better than Baileys! The only negative (which isn't really a negative) is that in the shop they don't sell small bottles. As a back packer I can't carry or send home large bottles of rum. Sample bottle packs would be an awesome addition so I can share Bundy with my relatives back in England.

Awesome experience and a MUST DO!! - Even though i'm not a big fan of rum, after this tour and all the tasting I think i became a real fan of rum. It was amazing walking through the distillery, to see what happens behind the scenes, and real interesting. We really enjoyed ourselves.

Great experience if you are a Rum drinker. Very helpful staff that guide you around the factory. Interesting talks on how it runs and how they make it. Drinks at the end were great. Well worth the money!!

$25 ($22.50 senior rate) gets you the extended tour of the distillery. Make sure you wear enclosed shoes, thong/flip-flops aren't acceptable' though for an additional $2 you can rent temporary shoes. Our tour started off with a few minutes in a display area followed by the introduction to our genial guide, an upbeat young man who obviously enjoyed his job. We were shepherded through the process of manufacturing the rum over a period of about 30 minutes, finally ending in the free sample bar. You're limited to 2 free samples each (not the most expensive stuff) and are free to browse the gift shop while you sip. I found the tour pretty boring, what you get to see is not actual production, other than the big shed with ponds of fermenting 'mash' the rest was mock-up for the tourists. Even the overview of the expensive stuff packing department looked like it was put on just for us. If you're not into rum, I wouldn't bother. The young guy leading the tour tried to make it as interesting as possible, but basically I found it boring (until the free sample time).

Visited this fascinating place of history. Well worth a visit. A must see in Bundaberg.
Excellent guides that take groups thru every hour. Must have closed shoes on, or ladies a sandal with a back strap on, NO JANDALS. Or you will need to hire these.
Get 2 tastings of your choice at end of tour, yum yum. And an excellent shop to buy souvenirs or some rum of course. No cheaper than the shops though. That's a pity, you come all this way and not to get any discount, was a disappointment. Maybe even a voucher for $5 off when you book the tour would be nice, to be used in the shop on anything.
No photos, but I can understand that. A great piece of history.
