“peace and tranquillity”
Reviewed March 19, 2012

We had the good fortune to pick up a leaflet for Hideaway Haven at the Tourist Information Office in Bundaberg. We were looking for accomadation in the area and booked it immediately. Once you turn off the main road and descend the road towards the property you are in a different world, a world of peace and tranquillity. There was a warm welcome from Garth and we were even given a choice of room. Everything was perfect including the bedroom, the lounge, the veranda and the very large garden where the main occupants were wallabies and bush turkeys. The food was excellent with much home grown produce being used. Garth and Marcia were excellent hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them.During our many conversations with Garth and Marcia they soon realised that we were large fruit eaters, and they suprized us with a pack up of fruit for our journey on the day of our departure.

Garth and Marcia are wonderful hosts. The room was clean, fresh and comfy with well appointed bed linen. Breakfast was hearty, healthy and eggs provided by the resident chickens. Our coffee and biscuits baked by Marcia were a welcome relief after driving for some hours. Even the lovely family cat played her part in the welcome. We will return.

Room Tip: Quiet room - View of property. We were offered a choice and both rooms were delightful. If staying...

We stayed at this excellent B&B for one night right before flying to Lady Elliot Island. Garth gave us a warm welcome and we had nice conversations. We met the animals of and around the house - green tree frog, carpet snake, cat and the birds. Garth took us to the airport and picked us up when we returned from the island. Among all the places we stayed at over a 4 weeks period in Australia, this was definitely amongst the very best. Heike and Stefan

Wonderful hosts, wonderful food and preparation centered around healthy choices, lovely wine collection to choose from served with your meals, interesting conversation with the hosts, room was excellently prepared with luxurious appointments, the linen to die for and so clean and crisp, able to use the property as if it was just for you, swimming pool and BBQ for guests convenience, nothing too much for any of our requests to be met by Garth and Marcia, and away from the hustle and bustle, very private

Room Tip: Our room near entrance side, but all rooms equally nice to choose from, ours had the claw foot bath...

Everything about our stay here at Hide Away Haven was "spot on", truly first class.
Garth and Marcia greeted us at the door and were warm, friendly and welcoming.
We were hungry and Garth said he had "on old chook" in the fridge. Well, the "old chook" turned into a wonderfull chicken salad which my wife and I really enjoyed.
Garth showed us some of the many interesting items, tools, old machines etc.he has collected. We stayed in the room with the freestanding old fanshioned bath which was great after a long day on the road. The breakfast next morning was superb, fresh fruit, cooked breakfast with everything cooked to perfection, juices, toast etc.. The breakfast area is lovely and overlooks the large garden, with the birds swooping between the trees, a truly memorable breakfast. We have owned a #1 B & B in the UK and stayed at many B & B's throughout Britain and Europe, without doubt this is one of the best we have ever experienced. Thanks again Garth and Marcia, and good luck.

Room Tip: We stayed in the room with the lovely deep free standing bath - which was great.
