Hideaway Haven Bed and Breakfast
Ranked #2 of 12 Bundaberg B&B and Inns
Reviewed October 28, 2011

Everything about our stay here at Hide Away Haven was "spot on", truly first class.
Garth and Marcia greeted us at the door and were warm, friendly and welcoming.
We were hungry and Garth said he had "on old chook" in the fridge. Well, the "old chook" turned into a wonderfull chicken salad which my wife and I really enjoyed.
Garth showed us some of the many interesting items, tools, old machines etc.he has collected. We stayed in the room with the freestanding old fanshioned bath which was great after a long day on the road. The breakfast next morning was superb, fresh fruit, cooked breakfast with everything cooked to perfection, juices, toast etc.. The breakfast area is lovely and overlooks the large garden, with the birds swooping between the trees, a truly memorable breakfast. We have owned a #1 B & B in the UK and stayed at many B & B's throughout Britain and Europe, without doubt this is one of the best we have ever experienced. Thanks again Garth and Marcia, and good luck.

Room Tip: We stayed in the room with the lovely deep free standing bath - which was great.

After 3 weeks of travelling down the coast of Queensland it was such a breath of fresh air to stay in a B&B where everything was so perfect and individual. We booked last minute while driving from Rockhampton and we didn't really know what to expect. When we arrived it was stunning, the location is perfect, in the middle of the wilderness surrounded by the local wildlife. We were made to feel very welcome with tea and biscuits on the terrace with our delightful hosts Marcia and Garth.

Now the rooms.....these are stunning. They are beautifully fitted out with wonderful tasteful furniture, amazing beds which gave my husband and I the best nights sleep in a long time, and great en-suite bathrooms.

The breakfast definitely topped it off for us though. We awoke to the smell freshly brewed leaf tea and a wonderful table setting on the terrace with beautiful english delicate china. We had a bowl of fresh fruit which was delicious and included mango and the ever sought after banana!! My husband then ordered a full english breakfast, as I just went for some toast. I was insanely jealous, it looked and tasted amazing. This is no ordinary breakfast, this is a real country b&b breakfast where the hosts can actually cook!!

All in all, I would definitely recommend this b&b. It is great for couples as it is very scenic and as the name suggests a Hideaway Haven.

Thank you Marcia and Garth

Arriving at Hideaway Haven was a breath of fresh air after spending a number of nights in anonymous hotel rooms. Marcia and Garth made us extremely welcome and the cuppa and goodies on our arrival ma de the welcome even more enjoyable. The location is idyllic and accommodations excellent. Marcia and Garth were a source of great information on local restaurants.
We loved the slate floors and old worldliness of the B&B. However a warning the breakfast is not for those with high cholesterol – but it was delicious - however there were healthy options.
We unreservedly recommend this B&B and will return when we're in the Bundaberg region again

Hello fellow dog lovers!! People like us find it virtually impossible to get excellent accommodation with our pets, but "excellent" is the only word that does justice to the friendly service we and our two Cardigan Corgis Holly and Amber received from our hosts Garth and Marcia. The food, the decor, the collectibles, the multi-coloured slate tiles throughout, the log fire (awesome on an unseasonably chilly September evening and breakfast), the BBQ, outdoor & indoor eating areas are all superb.

Our trained girls were happily lazing on the courtyard floor while we threw our prawn skewers and sliced mango halves on Garth's BBQ for an unexpected evening meal - Garth and Marcia topped up our modest provisions with plates of grilled veges, salad and steak. Then they plied us with beer, wine and good cheer. An awesome evening meal with our hosts, our "babies", and Mike (the other guest) for company.

We were competing at Championship Dog Shows in Bundaberg and are well set up with our collapsible dog trolleys ("doggie bedrooms"). We set up our trolleys on the screened verandah overlooking the parkland, and settled into a most comfortable, luxurious sleep and a sumptuous breakfast the next morning.

We have stayed in B & B's around the world (some very, very good ones). Hideaway Haven is undoubtedly the best we have ever stayed in.

Room Tip: The ensuite with shower was top class, but when we saw the discreetly screened antique bath in the b...

Upon reaching "Hideaway Haven" one would expect a house with a modern interior to match the external view. We were greeted very warmly by Garth and Marcia and shown around the dwelling and property. On entering the house, you are taken aback with all the quaint objects of yesteryear.

The interior of the house is very clean, neat tidy and gives you a warm feeling of security and serenity. The area surrounding the house is lush with trees and various floral vegetation. If you look hard enough (and it is not hard), you may even see some of the fauna walk on by.

The service provided by Garth and Marcia were second to none. A guest could not want for anything. The homemade meals were of 5 star class and you never leave the table hungry.

Garth and Marcia have a wealth of knowledge to pass onto the guest with places to go and see and also the entertainment in the area. Anyone wanting that quiet, serene surrounds and want to totally relax, I recommend highly "Hideaway Haven". The stay is not expensive and was totally worth the expenditure. I will be returning again.

Thank you Garth and Marcia. We have enjoyed our stay immensely, and can't wait to return.

Room Tip: It would be advised to book early to stay at

Thanks Garth for the wonderful time. What can we say everything was perfect. Loved the fire. Next time hope to meet Marcia. Just what we needed a short break away from the rat race of life, just to relax in the peace and tranquility. Rob & Carla Peters
