“Good for quick bite.”
Reviewed December 27, 2013

The cafe is tucked into a corner overlooking the harbour. The service is average and there is enough variety in dishes to please most. The food is good for a cafe.

“Adjust your expectations”
Reviewed November 23, 2013

In line with the consensus, I have been here on a number of occasions, and find the setting great, and the food generally pretty good although certainly overpriced.

With a large group is has been great ~ which mightn't always be so flash for the other patrons in the restaurant. The order and pay for yourself arrangement works well in this setting, although it's not so great for a more intimate gathering.

Coffee is reasonable, and can be a pleasant place on a not too busy weekday morning. Service is all over the place. On a recent visit in November 2013, the evening guy was fabulous and we searched for him to tip. The following morning, the 'senior' woman was scaryingly gruff, while the 'junior' was delightful.

I won't give up on the place, if only for the annual Big Group Get Together there which it suits perfectly.

I went there for breakfast yesterday. As I am a local I have been there a few times, each time hoping that it would be better. i am also disappointed. The service was very slow and the food is overpriced for the serving size. Admittedly the food tasted nice. There are too many other options with better value for money for me to go back. calling in for a coffee after a walk is ok but you have to always wait a long time for your coffee (about 20-25 minutes).

“Picturesque view and good food”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

Setting : facing one of Wollongong's ligthhouse, with charming fishing boats for exotic pictures and the extraordinary North Wollongong Beach in the background
Seafood store on the ground floor
Comprehensive menu and everything looked appealing (we could not resist eyeing other patrons's dishes )
Try their caramelized garlic bread, fabulous, perfect Caesar Salad and beer battered fries (we were there for lunch)
Will we go again? Absolutely, but next time we will go for the seafood!

“Could do better”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

I have visited Bombora many times mostly just for coffee, the setting is unbeatable. We recently dined there and on the whole meals were good, except that mixed dip entree platter marked as vegetarian contained a fish dip, and the garlic butter contained some kind of nut product, this was clearly evident to a member of the party with nut allergy. Don't know if it was part of the meal, not something you would expect to contain nuts, or a matter of cross contamination.. In either case unsatisfactory and potentially dangerous. Meals were good, and service satisfactory.
