“Good night in Woolongong.”
Reviewed July 13, 2012

Room was clean and spacious, bed very comfortable.
Good location, suffers from dated fixtures.
Best night's sleep, very quiet.
Not overly cheap for what you get.

This is the second time we have stayed at this motel. It is a 5 minute walk across a park to the City Beach reception and Dunes restaurant. We took room 209, doulbe bed and 1 single small table and two chairs. Sink, kettle, toaster and generous tea and coffee supplies, milk in the small fridge. Pretty good hanging space in wardrobe also irioning board and iron in room.
Small balcony with two chairs and table. We overlooked water, yachts and lighthouse.
The airconditioning unit is an antique and i wasn't prepared to turn it on at night so we self with the balcony door open. Falling asleep on a very comfortable bed was perfect.

The bathroom is small and could do with a make over, but did it's job.
There is a lift. Make make mention of the beautiful good morning greeting and smile from the young housekeeper. Very nice.

This motel must have been built in the fifties or sixties, and is certainly showing its age. With rooms around a central courtyard, with a few large palms and potted plants it displays a generous use of artificial grass in the courtyard, steps and on the landings.

The rooms are a good size and each one we have stayed in has had a small kitchenette area with microwave, sink and 'fridge. The bathroom is what I have found the least attractive, dating back to the original building. I found it hard to cope with this for 3 night, although it was certainly clean and well maintained. Nevertheless, others in our group said that their bathrooms had been re-tiled and updated, which would make a big difference for me on future visits.

The staff have always been friendly, and there is a great view of Wollongong Harbour from the balconies have a great aspect facing the water, through the trees on a park. Cafe's, shops, surfing beaches and swimming spots.

It seems as though it is a bit pot luck at the moment on the overall quality of the room one gets. Our beds were new and very comfortable, although the other furniture was very dated and on the way out. Friends 2 doors away had all new fittings and it looked like a different established.

Despite these limitations, it is a great location with space. Ask for a room facing the sea and hope that they continue the upgrading throughout.

Room Tip: Ask for one facing the sea, and with new fittings or bathroom if possible

We stayed overnight here on our way to Sydney. We booked when we arrived with no prior checks however our room was large, facilities were ok, clean. Yes the furniture is very dated but it is not shabby and the bathroom as functional. It was fine for one night, if you have kids then there is plenty of room for a family. Don't pay for internet McDonalds has it free everywhere.

Checked in here on impulse and wish we hadn't. The female on the desk was efficient although not especially friendly. Hotel is a 1970's relic with ancient decor and furniture.
Shabby fixtures and fittings that were old and worn - see my photos. The shower was hilarious -it spat furiously at me although it was warm water. The air con unit was an inefficient antique but thankfully we were not there in summer - don't know how you would survive. The Internet was a rip off too, $15 and only my husband could access, they wanted another $15 for my access and that was only for 1 night.
Positives? Well there were plenty towels in the room and it has quite a nice view of the Harbour - IF you pay extra. The location isn't too bad a short walk to the centre of town.
Room was expensive for what it was - a horrible first motel to stay in while we were in Oz - thankfully things improved as our holiday progressed. (thank God for trip adviser)
Would I stay here again? - no! not even if you paid me!

Room Tip: Don't stay here

The room was clean but very shabby. The air-con was something thing out of the dark ages and only ran hot. If other patrons were using the shower yours would run hot or cold depending on what was being used. For the price, $165.00 it was a disgrace and we were very disappointed.
