My booking was lost, on a busy night in Queanbeyan I was lucky to find a hotel in Nearby Canberra with a room. This has happened to a colleague 3 times in the past- they are hopelessly disorganized. Have stayed here in the past and the rooms are creepy with horror flick dolls for decoration. Rooms are noisy too from the passing traffic, and last time I was put ina smelly smoking room as they did not have the non smoking room I requested,. I can't understand why they would even have smoking rooms. Will never be staying here again.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your stay at our motel. We appreciate all feedback from our guests and would like to respond to your comment.

We are sorry to hear about your booking being lost for your stay with us. Unfortunately in the hospitality industry human error f.eks incorrect dates or miss typing in the computer system does create big mistakes like bookings being lost or cancelled accidently. However we have recently got new management who are working on improving our routines to ensure that this is not a common occurrence. Perhaps in the future if you call us to confirm your booking a day in advance to ensure everything is correct such as dates, room requests etc, we can ensure everything is ready for your visit.

Smoking rooms are available for the guests who wish to have them. All requests from guests are prioritised to be met, but in this case as unfortunatly there was a mistake with you booking, this resulted in us only having a smoking room left avaliable.

In regards to the noise (as we have mentioned in other guests comments) if you wish to have a quieter room we have deluxe rooms on the opposite side from the main road for better comfort. Noise pollution is unfortunately unavoidable when the hotel is located conveniently in the inner city.

Please consider visiting us again and contact us directly when booking so we can provide you with a room to suite your comfort.

it has been awhile since staying at the golden age, i was a bit hesitate after reading all the comments and my previous stay wasn't the best. But it gave me a pleassent supprise, the bath rooms had been renovated and the room was clean, on check in the staff was pleasent and helpfull , we had dinner and over all it was different. not your standard motel food. but it was a simple menu lot of food like you could get at home but overall it was fine for the night. the breakfast was nice lots to choose from and the warm morning sun just made it that touch better. The whole stay was fine the only thing that was a bit werid was the dolls everywhere they where just not my cup of tea but it would be a liking to someone else.

We are glad to hear that your stay was pleasant, as you mentioned you have noticed that we are upgrading by renovating bathrooms, upgrading to large flat screen TV’s and we have new sealy poturepedic pillow tops beds. So we are glad you had a pleasent surprise for this visit.

Our breakfast room does have a lovely location with sun light in the mornings, we are glad you found that you had more than enough to choose from, we try to cater to everyone’s tastes & dietary requirements.

We hope to see you again in the future.

A large place. Not new, but has been kept in good nick. It is not glossy and modern. But it has character and is good value in my view. We found the customer service to be pleasant and attentive. Others seem to have had a bad experience, but I can't see why and can't endorse it. The people care about the place. The dolls and other homely touches have special meaning for them. Ask them and find out. Just like the signed picture of the horse in the breakfast room. This is a place with family values, not just a commercial operation.

The room was not what we had paid for, the service was very mixed, some staff helpful some nasty. The sliding door to outside had a fly wire door but as this had no lock and we were on the ground floor we could not have the glass door open at night making the room stuffy.I complained about the rear projection tv 3 times as it was unwatchable and even asked for it to be changed but was told , yes we,ve had problems with these for 5 years!! Well get rid of them!! We cut our trip short as I just couldn,t spend another night there. Seems to cater to travelling business men going into Canberra.

Dear Guest.

In regards to the room not being what you paid for we are not sure what you are refering to so it is hard to respond. As mentioned to other guests comments, we have had some staff turnover in the last years and feel we have a great team with us now, where your requests and comfort are our first priority. We hope that if staying with us again you will not experience any issues with our staff and find that they are profesional & pleasent.

To comment on your issue with the fly screen doors, all our fly screens have a small latch on them so you can lock them however, our flyscreens should not be used as security doors. The main doors are secure when locked. We do have a reverse air-conditioning & heating system which allows you to keep the glass door shut and still have a comfortable room temperature.

Our TV’s have now all been replaced with new 42 inch Flat screen TV’s with Digital & foxtel channels, so this will not be and issue if you choose to visit us again.

Please contact us directly if you consider to come back so we can make sure your stay with us is a better experience than your last stay.

My advice for people interested in staying at the Golden Age Motor Inn would be to rethink it, unless you are happy to book and pay for a particular room and then arrive to find out that it is not the room you will be staying in. Staff are extremely rude and do no care that your accommodation is not what you believed you have booked and paid for. They also have no hesitation in changing other people's rooms around without discussing it with them first. If this is their standard practice then I now understand why I did not get the room i booked.

I understand that there must have been a mistake with your booking and sadly this has made your stay with us not what you expected. Unfortunately mistakes can happen but we hope you understand that this is not our intension or any common practice.

The fact that you found our service rude this is something we do take seriously. The staff member you dealt with has been terminated, we believe all guests should be spoken to in a pleasant manner and should not have to feel as you did after your stay.

We endeavour to meet all guest room requests however, we cannot guarantee 100% a particular room number as other guests already checked in might extend their stay. Calling to confirm on the day is better so you can make sure your requests have been met.

We have implemented new routines to make sure mistakes like this do not happen, and hope that if you consider staying with us again we can show you an improved and better experience.
