I only wish I had read the TripAdvisor reviews before I stayed at this motel. All the accounts are entirely accurate. We stayed in a family room, not cheap at $145/night. The room was freezing (for reasons explained in other reviews here - floored building design) We arrived at check in at 2pm and to our astonishment there was a note in the room guide saying the heating was not switched on until 4pm daily. So, we sat freezing for a couple of hours so the motel could save on their heating bill that we were supposed to be covering as part of the room fee? The small air con outlet then struggled to heat the room to 19-20 deg C. Expect a chilly stay here between April thru October when outdoor morning temperatures are down to zero and below. The internal unheated Atrium pretty much reaches the outdoor temperature and the rooms connect to the atrium thru a glass wall. Our room was really lacking in maintenance, had graffiti on the bathroom doorway (see photo), missing lamp globe and broken drawer. Our queen bed was made from two singles (see photo). We thought at least we will get a nice warm breakfast in the restaurant - NO - hot food not served Sunday or Monday as stated on their breakfast order forms ! We then thought, lets go and relax in the heated indoor pool - except - pool had no water (see photo). Looked to have been empty for months - a claimed leak in it , but we suspect it had been emptied to save money for winter. On a positive note, the rooms were well serviced and very clean linen and towels - this is the only positive comment I can think. We rated this place about a 2.5 star and felt ripped off when we left. Staff we un-interested and un-welcoming. Would never stay here again.

We left our booking late, found Airport International Motel could accommodate our request, left a message about arrival time and requests - BTW - booked this directly with their own website - found out that the room didn't meet our needs - one queen bed - not the queen and sofa bed as per their website. The unfriendly staff moved us and arranged a roll away. Instead of four walls, one wall was ordinary glass and you could hear everyone walking and talking as they went past, the light shone in through the blinds and the staff were terrible! Stay only if you must!

Room Tip: don't book

Happy with the location as it is pretty easy to access Canberra Airport. However, the property was very disappointing. The staff were not rude but they need to brush up on their customer service skills and not treat guests as an inconvenience. The atrium is open to the air (bad idea for the climate) and the rooms have glass walls facing the atrium....this means the cold air comes straight into the hotel rooms.
The room was clean and neat but as it was winter, the heating in the room was only on or off. No electric blankets ,extra blankets or pillows.
All the above is normally something I can overlook but the main thing that irritated me about this motel is the fact that they have a timer on the hot water in the shower.....what the????
In a place that was -4 overnight. this is not what you want to wake up to in the morning!
I will not be staying at this hotel again when there are so many great properties in Canberra.

We have stayed at this motel twice now. The first time, the bed was terrible, springs poking through and the framework underneath the bed was broken. The children had bunk beds that squeaked eveytime they rolled over. Other than that, the room was clean. The second time we stayed there, i asked for 2 single beds instead of the bunk beds and the queen bed was better, but the single beds are really past their use by dates. This motel says it is a 4 star standard, but it is not. The conditions of the beds and decor pull it back to a 3, 31/2 star quality. The indoor garden is lovely to sit in. Kids enjoyed the pool. Didnt try the restaurant, but have heard it is good.

Once you get over the fact this Motel is in Queanbeyan, and has long since seen it's best years, it could be a good value place to sleep. It can be said that it is at least on the airport side of Queanbeyan - but that means it is nowhere near restauants and places to eat. It is however within walking distance of the Bowling Club which serves reasonable club/chinese meals. The motel has an in-house eatery with a very limited menu.
We got a cheap rate on a last minute booking site, but there may have been other good value deals in Queanbeyan, which we weren't comparing it to. If it's only a bed you are needing with proximity to all Canberra has to offer, this is not a bad deal. Just don't be fooled by the airport International inuendo!
The rooms are quite spacious and have everything required. We stayed two nights and the room was serviced in between, with toileteries and tea/coffee supplies replenished. The weird indoor garden under the circus like tents means the rooms are quite dark.

Airportmanager, Owner at Comfort Inn Airport International, responded to this reviewResponded December 18, 2010

The management of this motel is always grateful to receive feedback and utilises its own internal feedback mechanism.
As can be seen from the spread of ratings on trip advisor we have never utilised false review to raise ourselves up the rankings.
Our latest 3 monthly survey results would also indicate different results from the trip advisor site. For example 'Reception - Courteous and helpful?' 93% replied 'Yes'. 'Issues raised and rectified in a timely manner?' 82% replied 'Yes'. 'Rooms clean and tidy?' 82% replied 'Yes'. 'Value for money?' 75% said 'Yes'.
I will not argue that some of the older non-refurbished rooms require upgrading but the linen and standard of cleanliness is very high.
If people want 5 star rooms please stay in 5 star accommodations and pay the 5 star room rates, but please do not expect bargain room rates i.e. from $95 to be of perfect 5 star quality.
We have recently upgraded executive room from $135 that are bigger with better free services than many motels in Canberra such as free unlimited wireless broadband, sauna and gym, pool, tennis courts and children’s playground.
