We had dinner at Olives tonight and really enjoyed the experience.
The new menu is a delight and the food and service was A1.
It is wonderful to have our local restaurant open again

To all valued Olives customers.
Unfortunately Olives had to close on Sept.16th, due to illness of the Chef; who has subsequently left the restaurant and resigned from the Company.
Olives will be reopening on Tuesday 4th December with a new and exciting menu.
Look for the HAPPY HOUR Take Away...all selected pasta dishes $10 BETWEEN 5-6PM.
We thank you for your past dining experience and on your next visit look forward to you enjoying a value for money meal with us.
We hope that you will have a re-newed dining experience.
Xmas greetings

We went to Olives on a Friday night and found that with only two staff out the front the service was a bit cranky. Genuine efforts were made but requests were met with a gruff response and it seemed there just weren't enough hands to serve everyone graciously. I had the main size prawns, and though they were large came with just seven prawns for $45.00. As they only came with salad I asked if I could have vegetables and rice with them instead. A small bowl of greens arrived, which added another $7.50 to the bill. No rice appeared nor was any explanation given. I can't eat pasta or bread so that was disappointing. My husband is a pasta lover and enjoyed his marinara but felt the bruschetta was overwhelmed with tomato. With a $90 bill for 7 prawns, bruschetta, some green veges and a pasta dish we felt it was a bit over the top. Perhaps this restaurant just didn't suit us or we struck an off night.

Odd location, although they have tried to make the best out of it. Nice tables, cutlery and glasses and the decore is ok.
We started with bruschetta, which looked and smelled fantastic. However when we bit into it it was way too cold - prepared earlier and kept in the fridge until ordered when it is placed onto the bread. The flavours were strong, balanced and delicious - just too cold.
Two of us ordered the Lamb Ragu which for $30 odd dollars was a bit of a disappointment. Came to the table very ordinary - just like a poorly prepared homemeal with no flair of the finishing touches as you would expect from a professional chef. The edges of the meat - which looked like it was shin - were dry and tough and the sauce was not full and rich as was expected. As a matter of fact the two dishes were totally different - one was swimming in sauce and the other had just one or two spoons around the edges. When the waitress asked how the meals were, we commented on the disparity of the two dishes and you know what she said? "Would you like me to get you a spoon so that you can spoon some of the sauce from your friends plate onto yours!!!!" wow - a joke I thought and then she was going to get a sauce boat from the kitchen and place some sauce on my plate - but no - that didn't happen.
If we go next time we will try the $25 pasta deal which seems to be good value. Hope it tastes good!

I am a regular at this restaurant because it is by far one of the most consistently good restaurants in Port Macquarie. I love the warm, friendly service and the food is always excellent. Also lots of variety with their Pasta Misto 3-course $25pp on Tuesday & Wednesday nights.

Love this place!
