Ko has been cheffing in Port Macquarie for may years. The best recommendation I can offer is that most of his customers are local and regular. Sushiko's menu changes regularly and there are daily specials.

Hadn’t been for a while and wanted our Japanese fix! We were not disappointed. Salmon Lovers dish is always ordered - lovely! Will be back.

The SUSHIKO restaurant seats about 40 people so somewhat small, and a lot of the dishes are raw. However the service and the food are fantastic, the two waitresses although not Japanese did a great job. The chef who was Japanese showed his skill in the way he sliced and prepared his dishes. I would say if you have a hang up on Japanese food then don't go there. I found the 4 dishes we shared, beef, prawns, raw salmon and a second fish dish were presented just perfectly and how the chef slices the meat so thinly is skillful. Out of 10 I would say 10, so if you are in Port Macquarie and want something a little different go the the Shuhiko restaurant you will be glad you did. Regards Barry

Tucked away in a back street it would be fairly easy to walk past this restaurant and what a good thing we didn't! Small and intimate without any embellishments, this restaurant excels in delicious Japanese food. There were 2 waitresses working on our visit: one was extremely unfriendly and surly (tall girl with dark hair) which gave a bit of a bad first impression but was more than compensated by the very bubbly and friendly second waitress. The food was served promptly and was absolutely delicious. Not presented quite as beautifully as some other Japanese establishments but absolutely no complaints on the taste. We had the tempura which had the lightest and crunchiest batter and vegetables / prawns cooked to perfection. The rolls were also very tasty and accompanied with generous amounts of pickled ginger and wasabi. An added bonus is that it is byo with a small $2 /person corkage charge. It's quite a small and popular restaurant so it was better for us going after 1 as it appeared to be very full and noisy prior to that. A shame that the surly waitress ruined what would otherwise be a 5 star experience.

Been hearing about this place for awhile and finally got to go. Located in a strip mall near Coles, it’s smallish and not fancy. Friendly, fast service and help with the menu items we were not sure on. We ordered sashimi, sushi, gyoza, teriyaki chicken and tempura mix-veggies/prawns. All came very fast and were absolutely delicious, except for the teriyaki chicken, which was totally fine but maybe not how we like it normally. The tempura was perfectly light and crispy and the gyoza were mouth watering. I could eat 2 plates of those by myself! The owner thanked us for coming as we were leaving. A definite visit on our next trip to Port.
