“Can't beat setting, food very good”
Reviewed October 9, 2013

We were accustomed to service being slower in Aus than the US, which isn't a bad thing, so that didn't bother us. The setting, looking out over Town Green and a nice playground where our 6 y/o grandson entertained himself, is stellar. We found the staff very pleasant and the food was creative and excellent.

“Don't bother”
Reviewed October 5, 2013

I was umm and ahhing about DIY or eat out and as the IGA didn't open until 8 and FIG was open at 7.30 i thought OK we can eat and be out in reasonable time. Oh what a mistake I made. We ordered at just after 7.30 and got 2 juices out of a plastic bottle ($9) and half a glass of ice seriously??

Then the wait began..... and i watched the chef start making salads etc???? WT???

And some more waiting

At 7.55am I went into enquire and saw the eggs benny and healthy breakfast go up on the pass and the bell ring.... 10 minutes later the meals graced our table... COLD! There were a row of meals on the counter and I had watched the chef do his mis en place for lunch in the previous 20+ minutes. Sorry...FAIL...

Never tasted the coffee. I wasn't willing to give them any more $$$

Seriously if they had no intention of serving breakfast before 8am then they should have at least told us.

The coffee shop next to the bike shop at least said we had a 20 minute wait. Should have gone there at 7.10am instead.

Pity becuase the bar looked good the location is great BUT never will I suggest even thinking about it

In a word.... nah can't say that on TA

“Lovely atmosphere & location - average food.”
Reviewed September 14, 2013

3 of us went there for Sunday lunch. Busy, vibrant on a lovely sunny day. Great atmosphere due to a wonderful location. Staff very competent, friendly and informative. Good wines by the glass.
Food - same as what you would get up the road at Westport Club for a lot less.
1. 6 hour slow roasted Porterhouse - very dull, small piece (about 12 cm long, 5 cm wide and 2 cm thick steak) served medium, even thought we were told medium rare. Was expecting something juicy and tasty for $32!
2. Tempura battered John Dory Fillets - 3 finger sized fillets of fish in a batter - not tempura. For $22 not enough fish.
3. Lamb burger - ok heavily flavoured lamb burger for $19.

“Rude manager”
Reviewed September 14, 2013

Been going there for awhile now. Bit pricey but love the setting. However yesterday was meeting some old friends for morning tea. Made a request to have just the quiche without the salad ($14). Was told you still have to pay the $14. I nicely suggested that was not good service but was told quite rudely, "nuh you're not getting it". It wasn't even the request denial that got me but more the rude response. Felt sorry for the unhappy looking staff too...no smiles, very glum. Here I was with my husband,in a wheel chair, suffering with terminal brain cancer trying to give him a break from hospital and this happens.
