“Lovely park in a beautiful woodland setting”
Reviewed May 20, 2013

We stayed in a cabin for approx 5 weeks during March/April. The park is in a beautiful setting and we saw koala bears, possums, water dragons and giant fruit bats. We were visiting our son and his family in Port Maquaire so it was an ideal base. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, the cabin was clean and adequate for our stay. The furnishings were a little dated and it could have benefited from being refurbished however it was quite adequate for our needs and we throughly enjoyed our stay. We would highly recommend it.

We have just stayed at Flynns Beach Caravan Park over the school holidays. We had such a relaxing time. The kids were able to ride their bikes around the park and swim in the pool while we sat around the BBQ area next to the pool. The park has a beautiful natural setting with Koalas in the trees and Water Dragons lying around. This park is perfect for families as its small and quiet. We stayed in a Cabin which was a little older but had everything we needed and was spotless which is the main thing. We go to Flynns Beach Caravan Park at least once a year and go home very relaxed every time! The Park is currently under new Management who are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. Highly recommend for your next trip away.

We stayed here because it had a good review in the Rough Guide. Admittedly we didn't check the cabins before we paid our dollars, but we were tired on arrival, it was getting late, and we just wanted a base for the night.

Upon arriving, we put our stuff in our family cabin and went out to get some food. When we returned and turned the light on, we must have counted 10 cockroaches scattering across the kitchen floor. When we picked up our bags from the floor, more cockroaches fell out and made a run for it.

All the rooms had spiders webs in every corner and there was an assortment of spiders on the kitchen cupboards, on the surfaces in the bedrooms, and in the bunk beds. Furthermore, the whole cabin smelt damp.

The pluses - as the other reviews have said, the lady on reception was friendly and the bathroom was reasonably clean. However, this is still a place to avoid at all costs.

Worst park for accomodation!
not suitable for family hoilday only backpackers and campers. I would only use this park if there is no other accomodation available. The swimming pool to small for a caravan park.Make sure you get what you ask for when booking a cabin the cabins are very basic and beds are not confortable

Great location. Nice lady on reception. Everything else was crap. Old barbecues layered in filth and a tiny dirty pool. If we were just camping we would have easily dealt with these two tiny setbacks. The main problem with this camp site is the 'cabin' we stayed in: ensuite with three bunk beds, a little kitchen, television and dining table. Sounds lovely, only problem is that the property was already inhabited by 100 daddy long legs (at least one in every corner and a few even on the bed), bed lice all over the mattress and the odd cockroach. As we did not discover the occupants of this cabin until we got back at 8pm, the reception was shut. Upon calling the after hours number I was advised that the people of Port Macquarie are used to insects and this park was respecting nature by keeping them around. We were advised to spray them with the home brand fly killer provided (in the cupboard full of daddy long legs) and get on with it as 'they are harmless'. In the morning we left and advised the lady on reception of this. She offered no refund and pretended to know nothing about the insect infestation. I would assume this campsite has not bothered cleaning the cabins or getting pest control in for a long time.

We camped at Flynns Beach for a week. Our tent site was a perfect size, neighbours never felt too close.

We were situated next to the camp kitchen which was clean and comfortable to cook in.
We were also situated next to Flynns beach cafe and bar but had no problem with noise, even on the weekend parties ended around 10pm.

Staff were friendly, helpful and unintrusive.
Children were constantly and safely running around the park on their own.

Facilities are definitely not state of the art but let's face it you haven't booked the Hilton... I think if simplicity is what you're looking for, surrounded by beautiful bush land, rainforest and a stones throw from the beach then this Caravan Park would be perfect for you.

The camping facilities are ok but if you stay in the cabins they are horrifically over priced and a total dump!! The staff are nice but the grounds are overcrowded and the cabins are old and really small with plastic covered mattresses... The balcony/outdoor area is so tiny you couldnt squeeze out there to enjoy a meal its a total joke to charge $200 per night. Definitely won't stay again...
