“Been there, Done that, Happy to do it again”
Reviewed February 8, 2010

...stay at Port Pacific that is. Back in the 80's this resort's 9 storeys made it probably the tallest edifice in town. All white - it stood out among the rest. "Must stay there" I used to say. Now, in 2010, I've done exactly that. The structure doesn't look so tall; it's still white and with the welcome shown by the receptionists it has to be the better place in town to put head to pillow, laze, swim, balcony gaze, laze or even simply do nothing.

Basicly, the resort is a timeshare property though also takes in guests for one night or a few. The ground floor cafe is great for breakfast - particularly if you're not hauling food around on your travels or if it's raining. I can't understand why the cafe charges the same for cooked and continental - $9.50 for guests though more if one walks in from the street I suspect. Perhaps I was just unlucky.

Even if there's rain one can walk to the nearby shopping centre without getting too wet. Watch the crumbling road surface at the road crossing at any time. Looks as though the road surface is not in the Port priorities.

The resort is at the end of a shopping street - not far to most things needed for a great break. Plenty of cafes in the street and also those adjoining, so hunger pangs are a no-no. Excellent beaches a short ride, or a little longer walk, away. But back to the resort.

Everything is clean with spacious outdoor space on level 2 or on your very own bacony. My 1 x b/roomed apartment had two balconies - 1 for b/room and 1 for lounge - to look down on the said spacious outdoor space, feel tired watching the swimmers in the pool or lounge in the lounger.

Great place. Must stay there again.

Just a thought. The street rubbish collection is Tuesdays which will ensure you are awake.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment on the north side of the building overlooking the river and with partial ocean/beach views.
The resort has secure underground parking and a lift, as well as a heated pool and 2 spas.
There is a cafe on the ground level for breakfast, and the resort is within walking distance to the beach, river and shops/restaurants.
The apartment was very clean, modern and spacious.
The master bedroom had large windows to the north and west with two balconies and had a new en-suite bathroom with large shower.
The second bedroom had two single beds, an en-suite bathroom with shower over bath, and large north-facing windows opening onto its own balcony. There was a second TV in this bedroom.
The kitchen was clean and modern with two-burner hob, dishwasher, microwave and full-size fridge.
The lounge had a two-seater sofa, two matching chairs, flat screen TV with DVD player, reverse cycle air conditioner and a glass-topped dining table with 6 cane chairs. The lounge also had huge north-facing windows and opened onto its own balcony.
All 4 balconies had outdoor seating and tables.
There was also a third bathroom with shower over bath. All bathrooms had large fluffy white towels supplied.
The décor and furnishings were modern and well maintained.
We enjoyed sitting on a balcony in the sunshine with a coffee in the morning, and also in the early evening listening to all the parrots coming in to roost in the nearby Norfolk Island pine trees.
Reception staff were very friendly and welcoming, and I would recommend this Resort for anyone wishing to visit Port Macquarie.
