Had the baby zucchini for starter, which was delicious. The main was the specialty of the restaurant, the rib eye steak. It is a bit pricey, but we got a lovely freshly made sour dough bun with butter and a delicious olives while waiting, the steak was grilled to perfection and the chips and green beans done perfectly. The Chocolate Lovers dessert was divine and we also got blueberry friands as a "pre-dessert". All in all it felt like a six course meal. The restaurant is set in a historic building which is a beautiful experience in itself.

We went to a pre-wedding function in the old church they have out the back. There was pre-diner drinks on the lawn with nibbles and mains and dessert in the church. The food and wine was excellent, likewise the service.

We came here 14 years ago and had a bad experience but we were persuaded by a local that the restaurant had improved immeasurably - so we booked again! A Tuesday night - approx 10 tables of small groups/couples - and everything seemed great on entry. We had brought our own local wine - the waiter liked the look of it so we gave him a glass, which he enjoyed! After half an hour we were brought butter. After another half an hour I asked for the bread. The waitress said the other girl was just learning and apologized. Not sure who was managing or overseeing? Entrees came and were wonderful - exquisite even. Then nothing. Followed by nothing - no-one came near us, not even the waiter who enjoyed a glass of wine on us. All the other tables had been served including people who came in after us. We got up to leave after 2 hours. Was there a problem we were asked - oh your meals are being plated now - but we couldn't see any plates in the open kitchen - anyway too late for us. We left and paid the $52 for our two entrees and went home and had a bowl of cereal. Our fault - some places just don't change.

The staff seem to just stand around with their arms folded and you have to ask them about the menu. The starter was bad with the prawn having been frozen and not cooked (the head was black)
The main was just average and not what you would expect from a high class restaurant. As for dessert it was OK but then again it must be after we waited over 1/2 an hour to get it. Prices are $19 for starter, $38 for main and $20 for dessert. Wines are Hunter Valley and fairly good. There are better restaurants in the Hunter Valley and since this was sold it has gone downhill.

My experience is based on a dinner and appetizers served beforehand for a wedding my wife and I attended on the property. First off this is a great place for an outdoor wedding, the grounds are beautiful! After the ceremony while the photographer was busy getting portraits the guests were treated to pink sparkling style wine and lovely appetizers brought out on platters. Later we filed in and were seated, nearly 100 guests. The food served was of a very high quality, especially considering the size of the group of guests but everything was hot and fresh and nicely plated. Besides qualtiy food the service was great with the many servers pouring wines and setting out each course of food. After dinner there was dancing for those that had the energy on the nearby dance floor. I would gladly get married here but, alas I am already happily marrined so not in need of a venue but for those that are you should check Robert's out for your venue choice.
