“Good quality, clean, pleasant and central location that is suitably priced!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2012

This is certainly not 5 star accommodation (eg: no cable TV, just the free to air channels) but its very clean, comfy and honest. Rooms were good, with lounge area and large-ish bathroom. Pokolbin Village is centrally located and is quite unlike many of the overpriced options marketed by travel agents for the Vineyards.
This is an ideal base to prepare for wine tasting and visists to the cellar doors and you must try the local cheese shop.
The restaurant is good value with an excellent breakfast!
Village is equipped with a clean and well presented pool for the kids and has lovely grounds surrounding.

An excellent place that is very good value for the Hunter .

Would have been nice to have a kitchenette, but there were plenty of places around to eat at. We had a fantastic stay for 3 nights just after Labour weekend. We would go back for sure.

We arrived late at night and everything was sorted out for us. Very straightforward booking process.

For $280 per night you woul expect a decent coffee and somewhere nice to eat, vittorios is terrible!! 40mins to wait for food!! Then waitress argued with us!
The rooms are average, they are not 4 star and Nescafé blend 43 in the rooms is a joke! They advertised foxtel, it doesn't work.
Our reservation was messed up from the start and then checkin was chaotic and unorganised!
They clearly only care about concert revenue now as they are located directly Across from hope estate, the general store can't even make coffee and when I asked to speak to the manager was told there is not one!!
Terrible experience as expensive. NEVER staying here again!

Three friends and I stayed in Pokolbin Village this weekend, and were very pleased with the experience. Having left it quite late to get accommodation in the Hunter Valley, I didn’t know what to expect, but everything was so easy with the booking. The staff I dealt with over the phone couldn’t have been more helpful, and when I told the receptionist we were arriving by public transport, she sent details of how to get there from Sydney, complete with train times, the best bus route and a taxi number and estimated cost.

We stayed in the Queen Deluxe Suite, which was just perfect for our needs – nice living area with fold out sofa bed, TV, kettle, toaster, heater and fridge, clean and bright bathroom, and comfortable bedroom with queen bed. It was perfectly spacious for four people. When we were leaving, late checkout was arranged without any fuss, and again, the friendly receptionist gave us all the info we needed to get back.

The location was ideal, about 15 minutes from Cessnock, and five minutes from the only night life on Pokolbin. We arranged a wine tour through reception, and that was absolutely stress free too – picked up and dropped back to the Village. The site is nicely laid out, with a pool and tennis courts, as well as s cheese shop, general store, chocolate shop and some clothes and accessories outlets. There is also a restaurant, but word of warning, it closes at 9pm!! Luckily, a pizza place in Cessnock delivered to our door…

Overall, a very positive experience, and I would stay again in a heartbeat.

My fiancé and I stayed at Pokolbin Village for 3 nights to look at prospective wedding venues.
While the room (deluxe queen suite I believe) was comfortable and tastefully refurbished, the walls are paper thin so we could hear EVERYTHING the neighbours were doing (including toilet times while we were lying in bed).
There is no DVD player which struck me as strange and no hair dryer which drove me insane.
The continental breakfast was average at best and nothing had a use by date on it (working in the food industry, this always worries me).
The spare doona had some marks on it but nothing too major.
Overall the stay was nice but I wouldn't recommend it. Especially considering the work going on in the car park (just outside our bedroom window) starting early morning and continuing all day had not been mentioned upon booking or check in!

Oh and pink paint never worked... Ever.

My real issues were with the restaurant which they rave on about, Vittorios.
We were charged $25 for an 8" pizza and an ordinary salad.
Then the day we chose to go for a hot breakfast (the restaurant was DEAD! 6 tables at max), we waited ten minutes to be seated and ordered coffees straight away. 15 minutes later, the waitress returned to take our food order and we chased up our coffees. Half an hour after ordering our food, the food was brought out. Still no coffee. After 15 minutes of eating, we chased our coffee again. Nothing. Around 15 minutes after that, we had finished our meals and chased our coffee again. We finally had them brought out but they were for the wrong table. We then received our coffees about 5 mins after that and they were average at best. No apologies for the wait except for from the very embarrassed waitress. Upon paying they had the nerve to ask for a tip! Ridiculous. I will never eat there again!

The gelato from the Smelly Cheese Shop though... Amazing!

I came to "The Homestead" with real reservations. A 3 bedroom cottage for 6 people at such a fantastic price (and on a long weekend with no minimum stay) was too good to be true. But it turned out to be wonderful: a huge house with plenty of room for 3 couples; more space than we needed; effective reverse cycle air con; great kitchen; huge bathroom and all spick and span. It was central to all the wineries with plenty of restaurants close by. My family and I had a fabulous night's stay. We're going back again for a longer stay when the weather is warmer.

Very well presented cabin-style suites in a court yard arrangement. There is a swimming pool in the centre of the courtyard, complete with BBQ facilities.

The set up is very clean, modern and inviting. I was really impressed with the three suites I booked and we were all very happy with our stay.

I would definitely recommend staying here and will do again next time I visit the area!
