Fairly typical aussie pub fare though it had a few interesting options like duck confit.

Ordering food was the biggest delay: once we ordered the food came out very fast (almost before we got back from the bar).

Outdoor area is nice, but the music can be loud.

Overall a safe choice and nice place to site back and enjoy some cold (if expensive) beers.

I think everyone that comes to the Hunter Valley at some stage visits Harrigans. It is a vibrant pub, sometimes offering live music at night or in the afternoon. The food is pub food with a tourist location price tag, but still much cheaper than most of the nearby restaurants. If you have kids or teenagers with is definately a good choice. It is decorated nicely through out and the verandah is a great spot to sit with a cool beverage on a hot day.

We were showing some family, who were visiting from overseas, around Pokolbin. We stopped to eat at Harrigans and it was the worst lunch experience any of us had ever had. The place was almost empty yet there was zero service. I approached a waitress and can honestly say in all my life I have never met such a rude b...h. But she wasn't the only one, they were all the same. It was if they hated us for making them work. I went to the bar to get drinks and was served by the rudest barman I've ever come across. His attitude was disgraceful. Then the food came....disgusting! How that place is still open is a wonder. Never ever again will we step into that place.

At first it looked like we wouldn't get in being the school holidays. However we were led to a nice table and our order came promptly. Our meals of maryland duck and lamb shanks were delicious, I think probably the pick from the menu. We ordered a bottle of red wine and were given the lid to take home if not finished - in fact that happened at a few places in the Hunter - such a great idea!

Very busy on the one night we were there but had a good atmosphere. Set among the vineyards of the Hunter Valley it was like a home away from home.
