Staying at Spicers Vineyard was wonderful, so we knew we would love Restaurant Botanica, too. The staff of the hotel also seems to staff the restaurant, so it was nice to see some familiar faces and they were wonderfully warm and kind, as usual. We were seated inside (as were all guests). I'm not sure if that is always the case or just because it was a warm summer night. The table was perfectly situated so that my husband and I could both face out toward the vineyards with beautiful views of the sunset and mountains in the distance. Being vegetarian, we were very pleased that they had a vegetarian menu available with several entree and main options. The food was excellent - everything from the haloumi & beet amuse bouche to the ricotta-stuffed zucchini flowers to the mushroom risotto was very tasty. The menu didn't seem particularly inventive (many of these items can be found on other menus), but the execution was fantastic: fresh tasting and artfully-presented. My only surprise was that I brought in a 375ml wine bottle from the day's tasting that my husband and I wanted to share before ordering a bottle of something else. We were promptly told that this wasn't allowed, even for a corkage fee. In California, it is standard that every restaurant - especially in wine regions like Napa/Sonoma- allow guests to bring in at least 1 outside wine bottle for a fee (usually between $10-25/bottle). It may just be a cultural difference, though, so I can't fault them for that. It just would have been nice (especially since it was a half bottle) and now we have to toss it since we can't take it on the plane with us today. Ah well. At least they had some nice, local wine options for us to order. That small hiccup aside, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and would absolutely recommend Botanica to other guests of the area.

We chose Restaurant Botanica after reading all the previous reviews. We noted also the management's gracious manner in their response to any negative reviews, that was indicative of their commitment to service and to provide a fine dining experience. We were not disappointed. We took the advice of previous reviewers to arrive early to enjoy the setting of the sun against the backdrop of vineyards and the Brokenback mountain range. The ambience is warm and elegant, the service is attentive yet not pretentious. The food was both beautiful to look at without being what we call " too much art on a plate" (lots of adornment and balancing of wafers, chocolate brushstrokes, or 'foam', 'gravel' or other molelcular gastronomy, but not a lot of substance) each mouthful found us silently nodding our heads acknowledging, "Yes, this tastes divine!" My husband ordered the Beef fillet, it was cooked rare, just as he requested.... melt in your mouth tender, and the jus was rich in depth of flavour. I had the Kingfish which was complimented by a tangy but smooth salsa verde, and the most flavoursome home-grown (heirloom) tomatoes and asparagus. We ordered a side dish of garden vegetables also, but this was unnecessary after having the complimentary Amuse Bouche; a tasty smoked cod pomme noissette, that left me wanting more, and the most amazing house made bread; the crust of sourdough... and the light airy filling of the ciabatta, kept us coming back for more... For dessert we had the strawberries with a crisp shortbread, and the Mango parfait. The texture of the pafait was velvety smooth. The deserts are not huge, which is a good thing as we were not needing volume at that stage. In between dinner and dessert we enjoyed a well made decaf capuccino, albeit warm, instead of hot, and a T2 Chai tea. This was actually preferable to us rather than being served traditionally after the dessert, as we didn't find ourselves waiting. The finale to the evening were Petit Fours, two dainty almond macaroons. I don't doubt that Restaurant Botanica has earned it's first placed ranking on tripadvisor due to it's committed attention to detail across all aspects, little touches from the candles in the bathroom, and the French hand wash and hand cream (L'occitane), to the waitress opening the door for us when we were leaving and graciously seeing us out.... Our meal being one entree (Calamari), two mains, a side dish of vegetables, four glasses of wine (by the glass), a tea and coffee came to $200 - given all the complimentary extras, and the quality of the food and service we felt that this was good value, and we are looking forward to coming back with friends next time.

A wonderful place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Being pregnant the option of a vegetarian menu was very helpful as it doubled the options I could eat. The chef was very thoughtful and accommodating. Our food was beautifully cooked and presented. You can tell a lot of care goes into each dish. We were most impressed.
