“A very wonderful place.”

What a delightful find! We couldn't have found a better place to stay. Bobbie made us feel welcome from the minute we drove in. The attention to detail and high standard of service we had made us feel relaxed and comfortable, just what we needed after a long drive. Bobbie also organised a half day wine trip for the next day, and suggested places to dine and visit. Nothing was too much trouble. The beds were comfortable and breakfasts cooked to order. The well kept gardens were tranquil and inviting.
I would recommend Splinters wholeheartedly.

The weather might have been horrendous but that didnt stop us enjoying everything the Hunter Valley had to offer!
This little B&B is in a perfect location, with great views and comfortable rooms.
After hearing on here all about Bobby and her amazing service we were keen to meet her on our arrival, only to find she was away until the following night. Nevertheless we were met by Reggie who made sure all our needs were met and even booked our restaurant for us last minute.
I would definitely stay here again, I left feeling a great sense of relaxation and not disappointed in anything.

The breakfast each morning was beautiful and the extra touch of a few home made delicacies made it that much better!

Thank you Reggie and Bobby for such a lovely getaway

We recently spent three nights at Splinters, and really enjoyed our stay there. On arrival we were warmly welcomed by Bobby, who showed us around the 10 acre estate, and then to our comfortable and well equipped room. We enjoyed our wine and cheese relaxing on the verandah. Bobby arranged our booking for The Two Fat Blokes progressive lunch tour which was great fun, and also made restaurant reservations for us. We particularly enjoyed Botanica Restaurant, very close by, and a great way to spend Valentines evening... The breakfasts were served on the verandah, and varied each day, fruit, cereals, toasts, quiche, eggs, croissants....all delicious. If you want to relax in the Hunter Valley, you cannot do better than staying at Splinters where you will receive great hospitality from Bobby, a very special lady. Thank you very much Bobby.

My wife and I spent two wonderful nights at Splinters while exploring the many wineries in the Hunter Valley. Their very comfortable and well appointed lodging is situated right in the middle of the many excellent boutique wineries in the area. Having only three rooms and two self contained cottages it is very relaxing, quiet and pampering. Booking ahead is a must and is handled very efficiently by Bobby the owner who will also send on a number of excellent recommendations for the best restaurants and activities. During our stay Bobby was on a well deserved holiday but we were more than ably cared for by her friend Reggie who catered to our every need. Her breakfasts were delightful and she even arranged for two kangaroos to come hopping by during breakfast on our first day. On the second evening we chose to walk to dinner at Botanica (one of the best in the area) and as we arrived it started to rain. To say the least we were incredulous when a car pulled up and out popped Reggie with umbrellas for the walk home. That is just one example of the level of care they embrace. Lynda and I highly recommend Splinters to anyone wishing to stay in the Hunter Valley.

We stayed at Splinters for just one night and wished we could have stayed longer, such was the hospitality of Bobby Jory. Our room was one of 3 and beautifully equipped with crisp white sheets, a large super king bed, and all the little extras that made for a fantastic stay. The gardens were well designed with a beautiful swimming pool and a real oasis in the middle of the vineyards. The home cooked breakfast was very substantial with white linen table cloths and beautiful cutlery and china. Bobby really made our stay with advice on where to go and what to see. Dinner was not a problem as she booked us into a restaurant just down the road where we were given a complimentary glass of bubbles (courtesy of Splinters) a lovely touch. Next time in the Hunter Valley we will return to Splinters and stay longer. Thank you Bobby.

Room Tip: All the rooms are excellent.

My goodness me!

Bobby Jory is one of life's rare finds. I have to start the review with her. Splinters has been created from and around the special qualities and vision that this lady possesses. She is quite an extraordinary woman and a real example for others to emulate within the industry.

Needless to say, we were warmly greeted by Bobby when we arrived after a longish drive from Sydney. We were given enough information to settle in but also given space to ease into the surroundings slowly and at our own pace. This was one of a number of occasions where the hostesses skills and perception shone through.

The room and facilities were just as expected and reflected in the photographs and reviews. The gardens were quite magnificent in scale and that that they were lovingly created over time and had quirky features that reflected real homely personalities rather than an arid corporate identity.

I went on a voyage of discovery on the first morning and spotted my first ever kangaroos in the flesh - so to speak. I was ribbed mercilessly by travelling companions as to whether they were kangaroos or wallabies - but whatever- it was one of those experiences that I will remember for the rest of my life.

There is a wonderful sense of space and tranquility on the land at Splinters where one can lose oneself and have periods of quiet reflection.

The attention to detail and Bobby's innate sense of anticipating guests needs was a joy to behold. The breakfasts were indeed of royal proportions and the tables from the linen to the cutlery and china were fresh, spotless and changed as and when needed. Bobby also took the opportunity over breakfast to help and assist with booking and itineraries. Bobby also afforded great courtesy to a dear friend of ours who had been unable to book Splinters and was staying nearby.

We also met some lovely people here who were all in agreement about the unique atmosphere of the place. A passing mention to Bill (Bobby's husband) who dipped in and out occasionally of the conversations- a lovely bloke and the other half of a great couple.

Bobby has great listening skills,a subtle and alert sense of humour but also has a story to tell of an interesting and varied life. Thank you for sharing some of your experiences. I can only say that we are sorry to have missed the 'iconic' haircut but you will ,nevertheless, remain a legend to us!

Splinters is an outstanding example of what real hospitality is all about . I can honestly say that I spent a few of the happiest days of my life here - what more can anyone say?

Great base in the Hunter Valley. Bobby the host is very hospitable, friendly and a good source of local knowledge. She suggested some good wineries and restaurants to visit. The garden is lovely and has a small pool. The continental breakfast on the terrace is super and changes every day There are some nice touches such as free cheese and wine and macaroons on arrival. There is free wifi and the only (slight) negative was that the rooms, although very nicely fitted out, aren't particularly comfortable to spend time in eg if the weather is bad.
