Harrigan's Irish Pub & Accommodation

We dropped into Harrigans for lunch and a few beers. The set up was awesome as they had a jumping castle in the beer garden for the kids, they had a young lady singing and playing the guitar as a soft backdrop and to top it off the food and service was first class!

My husband and I recently spent 2 nights at this establishment and were very happy it. We checked in on a Saturday afternoon and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful - actually all the staff we encountered during our stay were friendly and helpful! We had booked and prepaid through Hotels.com as we got a good deal with them. We just chose a Studio room as it was all we required for the weekend. We found the room and bathroom to be very spacious with decent furnishings and decor. We had a nice private rear courtyard garden through patio doors and the benefit of being able to park undercover right outside the front door. Previous reviews had mentioned noise disturbance from the live bands at the pub next door, so we asked for a room as far away as possible. We didn't hear anything and had a good night's rest. The huge king size bed was very comfortable. The attached Irish pub restaurant provided breakfast in the mornings for $18 if you booked in advance, which was an adequate buffet of the usual suspects. We also had dinner in the pub one night and enjoyed it. The hotel has a discount coupon that offers 2 for 1 at the adjacent Hunter Valley display Gardens which is very good value. All in all a comfortable, if not luxurious stay.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper request a room far away from where the live band plays (block 5). This...

Well, what a find! Dont be put off by the Irish pub name but if you are in the Hunter Valley doing winetasting etc then the accommodation at Harrigans is first class. We could have stayed more than 1 night if time allowed but our room was spacious, modern, superking bed with a private courtyard with vines just 20 metres across the lawn. The pub was very busy with family meals but the food was okay. I would recommend asking for room 509 to get those vineyard views.

Room Tip: As indicated, rooms beginning with a 5 would be my choice with early morning sun.

We stayed here for 2 nights in June 2012, this is a fantastic hotel/pub accommodation, very clean and the morning buffet breakfast is the best I have ever had anywhere! There is a pool, but being winter did not use. We will be back with the family soon.

I stayed here recently in one of the larger suites with a few other friends (breakfast not included in our booking). The booking lady was very helpful and checking in was easy as well. Once in the room we found it to be nicely appointed and quite clean on first impressions and a pile of firewood for the fire that was there waiting (though we ran out of wood before bedtime).
Once we had been there a while though we found there was rubbish not picked up from inside the suite, the fridge still had food in it (assume from the last guest but who knows). We had to go to reception to get tea and coffee items which we thought was a very obvious oversight. We also found a lack of toiletries was a bit of a put off.
There was noise from the band playing as well but we were told upon checkin the band would be playing until midnight and there may be some noise from this.
Overall I would say the cleaners either do a pretty poor job or are given very little time to complete each clean and not enough supplies to stock each room. Either way it was dissapointing, and we could have stayed at numerous other villas or B&B's for the same or less cost and had breakfast included at the other places.
Upon checkout we were asked by management how our stay was but when we started to let management know about the issues we were instantly talked over wished a good day.
Overall it was pretty good and we were quite happy, but not as good as we expected for the money.

Room Tip: Choose a room far away on a weekend night (music not as loud then).

Stayed here for a night in an executive room on a Monday night. When Pub shut the yobs next door carried on the party in their room till 1.45 am. Not happy Jan. Thin walls no help. . When checking out management showed little interest and said they would " take note". Lesson learnt & will fork out a little more and stay at proper hotel next time.

We were very happy with our 2 night stay at Harrigan's Irish Pub. Despite live bands playing both nights, we heard no noise (though they thoughtfully provided earplugs just in case!) Our meal at the bistro was great value. The rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious and our squeaky bathroom door was attended to within minutes of us reporting it. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Check the card that comes with your keys as it contains a two for one offer for entry into the magnificent Hunter Valley Gardens, just 600 metres away and well worth a visit.
