My partner and I stayed at Thistle Hill, unfortunately for just the one night. The property is absolutely beautiful however the best part of the experience would have to be Carol.
Such a lovely, helpful lady who made our stay so enjoyable. The breakfast room is stunning, with a fire place, newspapers and calming music and the breakfast the next morning was way beyond our expactations - Carol had even made a beautiful bread and butter pudding with passionfruit butter, it was delicious!
I would definitely recommend Thistle Hill to anyone staying in The Hunter Valley. We are hoping to visit again soon with another couple and stay in the gorgeous Lavender Cottage.
Thistle Hill is a must for anyone with high expactations - it does not dissapoint in any way! Thank you Carol for a lovely stay.

Unfortunately we just stayed at Thistle Hill for one night, but the B&B was just what we were looking for.

Simply styled, elegant rooms. Peaceful setting. Great location for visiting the vineyards.

Friendly and helpful owners who pointed us in the direction of some amazing restaurants.

Would definitely recommend this as a good option for Hunter Valley accommodation!

I stayed here with my girlfriend in the B&B in July of 2008 and we loved it. In December I had my family over from Ireland so we decided to book Primrose Cottage for 3 days at Thistle Hill.

Carol and Peter were as welcoming as we had remembered and Thistle Hill looked even better because it was summer time. The cottage is very cosy and tastefully decorated. It was a very relaxing place. During the day we toured the Hunter Valley and each evening we had a barbeque on the lawn and enjoyed a few glasses of the local vino. It was certainly an oasis of tranquility and we all really enjoyed our stay.

We've stayed here 4 times now - 5th time will be in July - that's how wonderful this accommodation is. Carol and Peter are gracious, welcoming hosts and nothing is too much trouble. You can't help but relax. Rooms are tastefully decorated, spacious and comfortable and rates include a hearty breakfast which is enjoyed in an elegant setting - definitely value for money. But do yourself a favour and experience Lavendar Cottage. It is fully self contained and comes stocked with lots of lovely things for breakfast and more besides. In our opinion Thistle Hill should have been called "Thistle Do" because once you've stayed here you won't want to stay anywhere else.

This place is far better than 'guest house' status and shames many hotels. The atmosphere is relaxed and very friendly. An ideal location for an escorted wine tour (James' Wine tour was full of useful information and went to some great vineyards, a cheese shop and included chocolate tasting).

Breakfast was in a super location overlooking the estate and featured such delights as a 'crumble' - sounds strange but just try it!!
Carol, the owner was very helpful and the restaurant (Botanica) next door (just about walkable with a torch) was excellent. Would definately go back and would recommend to anyone.

Although the owners were away - we were greeted by Ann and Jan who were very helpful indeed. Rooms were comfortable for our two night stay, although they did lack wardrobe space. Chloe the kangaroo is always around the grounds waiting for a slice of bread which was a treat for my husband as he had never seen a kangaroo before. Despite the awful wet weather, we enjoyed visiting Maitland Gaol and the vineyards. Thoroughly recommend this hotel for its great facilities.

We found Thistle Hill to be the perfect place for exporing the Hunter Valley. Friendly and helpful hosts. Breakfast in the beautiful guest lounge, a separate building overlooking the lawns and the lake. A dip in the swimming pool. Highly recommended.
