I stayed here with my parents when I was a kid and while it's nice to know that some things never change, this place is long overdue for an overhaul.

The villa apartments feature tube televisions, towels and manchester made when Paul Keating was PM, and furniture so tired it's asleep.

Likewise, the hotel's restaurant is adorned with photos of 90s Aussie luminaries like George Gregan, Kate Fischer and Rob Sitch with a menu these very people were probably enjoying 15 years ago.

The staff are friendly but a bit useless and it seemed like the whole place was on a skeleton shift the entire weekend we were there. A late check-out was a problem, the wine served with dinner was stale and a request to get a desert sent to the room was met with a 100-yard stare.

People come here for the Golden Door Spa or the Golf, which is great, and we didn't really mind the time travel aspect, but a couple of small gestures could go a long way to improving the Cypress Lakes experience.

Like decent TVs hooked up to a system that shows the cricket in the correct aspect ratio, whack a Nespresso machine and an ipod dock in every villa, and please put someone behind the counter at the pool to hand out towels made this decade.

Stayed 2 nights Jan 2013 .Was a rip off played 1 round of golf 350 bucks for 2 adults and 1 child .Meals were fair and slow and not much of a wine selection unblievable We were told we could not use the pool as we had booked a unit in the resort We had booked a private owned unit which was not aware off until we paided on line which is still in the resort . Golf course was tired and would never go back there again .Believe they were relying on past years and exposure of the name Was very disappointing with the whole expirenance

Great place to stay. Lovely neat rooms with nice views. We only stayed for the weekend but would have loved to stay longer. The room was a little hard to find at first as there's not many signs but that isn't anything to complain about.

Stayed for the recent Longwall Conference and I hate being ripped off.
Booked in and upon entering the room found that it smelt like cigarettes and no-one had cleaned the skid marks off the $hitter - this takes the cake (so to speak)
For the sort of money that they charge for the suites the Hotel is a rip off.
Food quality for the breakfast varies from ordinary to satisfactory with staff at the check-in desk very surly and going out of their way to pretend to be busy so they did not have to serve customers.
Come on guys wake up and smell the roses.
