“Great day, great places, great people”
Reviewed January 27, 2014 via mobile

Bikes are a great way to get around the wineries at Hunter Valley.

Our friends had used Grapemobile before and highly recommend them. We were collected by Glen from our campsite and he took us to the starting point at their winery (Pokolbin Brothers). While we were fitted up with helmets and bikes we tried the gorgeous coffee and sampled a few of their wines.

Glen was such a good laugh and set us up for what was a fantastic day.
He recommended trying the Scarborough Vineyard. It isn’t the most straightforward place to find…look out for the green wire circle on the fence post, but well worth it.

We were shown to a table and presented with platters of cheeses, crackers and chutneys. We then sampled around 9 wines. The staff made us feel extremely welcome and were very knowledgeable about the wine we tried.

The majority of the vineyards will delivery any wine you purchase back to the Grapemobile or if your staying locally, to your accommodation. It is worth asking before you buy as you don’t want to be carrying wine around with you on your bikes!

I would also recommend the picnic boxes that are advertised at Grapemobile. You can get them from Calais Estate Vineyard and there is plenty for a lovely lunch while overlooking the beautiful scenery.

Moorebank is also well worth a visit. The lady who runs the vineyard is extremely interesting and gave us lots of information about the vineyard, the history and the creation of the wine. It is also nice to purchase a bottle of their wine and enjoy outside in the lovely surroundings. Make sure you go say hello to the sheep!

“Outstanding way to spend a day in the Hunter!”
Reviewed January 21, 2014

My girlfriend and I rented bikes on a sunny and warm summer day in January from Grapemobile. We did the $35/bike pickup/dropoff and full day rental option - well worth it in my opinion! It was nice not having to worry about anything. At first we were a little nervous about the hills in the area - in the end, they weren't a problem at all. The bikes were excellent and changed gears easily, making the hills quick and painless, even for the two of us, people who haven't ridden bikes in years!

We did the Palmers Lane Eco-trail, something I'd highly recommend! It's well laid out to be done at a leisurely pace without making you sweat TOO much. Plus, it gets you off the road and lets you cycle through picturesque vineyards. We visited and sampled at 5 wineries - Pokolbin Brothers (where Grapemobile is, nice all round!), Waverley Estate, with delicious aged wines, Calais Estate, with a lovely setting and excellent service, Moorebank Vineyard, our favourite of the bunch with delicious wines and an outstanding host, and finally Gemelli Estate, lovely setting and hostess. There is a 6th winery to visit, but was closed on the day. Each stop we made we were greeted with warmth and lovely tastings at some wonderful boutique wineries.

If you are up in the Hunter Valley and wondering how to choose amongst all the vineyards, this is a great way to spend a day sampling a wonderful variety of wines. The team at Grapemobile were friendly and knowledgeable, and made the day the most memorable of our trip.

“Nearly didn't bother but so glad we did”
Reviewed January 21, 2014

Having arrived late from Sydney we didn't think it would be worth going ahead with the pre booked tour but speaking with Glen he suggested we do a mini tour and we were so glad we did. Glen picked us up from our hotel and took us to his own vineyard where we picked up the bikes. After a welcome glass of wine and some valuable information we set off on a relaxing, informative and really enjoyable afternoon. After a couple of vineyards and much tasting we purchased a picnic hamper containing cheeses, meats and pickles and sat under a tree watching kangaroos. Even though we arrived back slightly late there was no pressure and while we waited for Glen to take us back to the hotel, Ron provided drinks and hilarious stories of his travels around Australia.
A fantastic, must do trip if you visit Hunter Valley

Could not possibly have been better-so glad we booked with grapemobile to visit the hunter valley!!
From an amazingly friendly pickup by glen (great bloke) to efficient set up with bikes and tasting of their own wine with Ron the whole thing is efficiently run and fantastically enjoyable.
We did 5 vineyards on the eco tour, loads of free tastings-got so carried away we were a bit late for glen giving us a lift back for the bus!
