“Great wines, great service, enjoyable tour”
Reviewed August 31, 2012

I came here for the winery tour that starts at 11am. Got here a bit early and had some time to kill.

Graham, the server (and also ended up being the tour guide) was fantastic. He showed a great knowledge of the wines, the property and was a genuinely nice bloke too. We had a good chat as I made my way through every single wine on the tasting list from the Hunter Valley (and a couple not on it).

The tour was very cheap, just $5 and was very informative. I'd imagine there would be more activity going on in the summer, but as it was it was still a good tour, and gave a good idea on the region's history and the winery's purpose.

A great place to go, I'd highly recommend it.

Hi - good to hear you enjoyed the tasting, and yes one of the advantages of having a restaurant at Mount Pleasant is the ability to taste wines whilst you wait for your meal, and to choose your preferred wine to match your food. See you next time!
Regards
Greg

“Take the wine tour, you will not be disappointed”
Reviewed July 22, 2012

McWilliams Mount Pleasant and Tyrrell's Wines are probably two of the most famous and awarded wineries in the Hunter, and for good reason. Arrive in good time, pay the A$5 and take the wine tour. Understanding the beginnings of the wine industry in the Hunter really helps to boost one's appreciation of the fine Semillon and Shiraz on offer here.

Hi - glad you enjoyed the tour, and yes we have a lot of pride in the history of the Hunter Valley, so we feel it is a vital part of the tour to give visitors an understanding of not just Mount Pleasant, but the Hunter Valley in general. Hope you also enjoyed our wonderful iconic Hunter semillon and shiraz!
