“Great location. Disappointed not knowing about Le Club Accorhotels card on arrival”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

We stayed 2 nights in this resort and were very happy with the location. We ran into some issue with the car rental in downtown of Sydney and called up the Mercure resort for help. The reception gave us very clear and detailed instruction on alternative transports. She even list down all the options which I am grateful for. We finally made it via rail and cab despite not having a car. The resort is centrally located and its within walking distance to a few good winery and the garden. The only downside of the stay was not being informed of the Le Club Accorhotels programme. I only knew that its a free membership after returning home and did the survey. We did not manage to clock any points and futhermore we paid for the full price at the steakhouse instead of a 50% with the card. Its a bitter after taste. Nonetheless the stay at the resort is great and the room and bed are great too!

My husband and I stayed here Tuesday 30th April 2013 for his 40th Birthday.
I did make other suggestions and forgot one. My husband had Pork Ribs for dinner, and said they were the Best Ribs he has Ever had. and that is coming from a very very very big and Fussy Meat Eater. The only thing I would suggest since Ribs are a messy dish and meant to be eaten and enjoyed with your fingers. A warm moist Flannel ( Face Washer) to freshen and clean up afterwards would have made the experience Fantastic. Dry Napkins still leave Hands and Face Sticky. So then had to visit the bathroom to clean up.Thank you so much for replying to my other suggestions so promptly. I hope they help in a good way.

Kind Regards,
Michelle Scott.

Stayed here for two nights on our way down to Sydney from Brisbane. Rooms were lovely, we had a cute little patio that got the early morning sun. Bliss. Bed was comfortable and room spotless.

Pool was great....not many using it. Water is freezing but lovely and quiet.

Free wifi in the bar area which was fab.

Breakfast was good...buffet style so not much to complain about. However we were severely disappointed with the dinner we had in the restaurant. Firstly the service was slow. We ordered bread and olives to share but these never materialised. Before we knew it our mains were being served. Obviously we cancelled the bread. Then whilst eating my salmon main I found a large piece of plastic in my salad. It wasn't cheap so you'd expect better.

Hotel is right next door to an array of shops and restaurants. The hotel put us on a wine tour they use all the time and it was great. We really enjoyed it.

Great hotel - I'd defo recommend. Just maybe eat your evening meal somewhere else!

This hotel was perfectly positioned for our visit to the HV Gardens. Easy walk to HV Gardens and shops. Very happy with the ACCOR advertised special rate we booked. Smooth check-in and provided relevant information for our visit which included reservations for that evening. We had a delightful meal in the restaurant, the waiter was knowledgeable and interactive. Delightful stay!

This is a perfectly positioned hotel, walking distance to a number of wineries, irish pub and restaurants. The layout is spacious and welcoming, staff were very attentive and eager to help when they could. Lack of lighting over the showers was strange, breakfast staff seemed short and cleaning of toilets was lax. Overall it would be a great choice to stay due to it's proximity and beautiful gardens, great for evening walks through the vineyards and enjoying the kangaroos and other critters.

Room Tip: Be away from the kitchen, the noise of coolroom compressors all night is not pleasant.

The stay in the hotel itself was good except for one thing and that was the meal in the restaurant for dinner. There was only one other couple in the restaurant when we arrived at 1828 hrs, the early dinner was so that the wife could get back to the room to watch the voice. Our order was taken and the bottle of wine arrived at the table. The restaurant filled quickly with other guests, all having their orders taken the same as us. As we were seated at the window I was more interested in the conversation I was having with my beautiful wife rather than what was happening behind us.
After about 45 minutes the bottle of wine was almost finished and the other guests in the restaurant had started and almost finished their meals. The waitress was called and the question was asked where was our food? The waitress returned a short time later with the excuse that there had been a technical issue with the order getting to the kitchen.
As I work in a service industry myself it amazed me that we had to ask the question of the waitress's where was our food. The waitress's had walked past our table several times to serve the other guests, but it didn't tweak that we didn't have our meals.
You can apologise all you want but this was pathetic.
You can also ask why nothing was said earlier from us but I do like to give people the benefit of the doubt and naively thought that they would figure it out for themselves.

Spent one night at the Mercure Resort on a visit to the Hunter Valley Gardens. This is a very nice up-market hotel with very good quality rooms. No complaints. Relatively expensive accommodation, but then all Hunter Valley accommodation is expensive. Very expensive breakfasts (so we didn't have breakfast). WiFi was not free (so we didn't use it), which is annoying in an expensive hotel, when lower cost hotels provide this for free. The Hunter Valley Gardens are brilliant and well worth a visit.
