This hotel has a lovely garden, well maintained. The rooms are large and well appointed. The linen is clean and feels soft. The rooms have private garden areas and are not noisy. The breakfast room has a delightful setting and the food is fresh and tasty. This hotel is well situated to walk to the famous Hunter Valley Gardens which currently have a magnificent light display. The hotel also has dinner available and this is served in the same restaurant as breakfast, so it has the view of the garden and also an outdoor deck area.
I would recommend this hotel to visitors staying in the hunter Valley.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool are great for families to keep on eye on the kids.

Great location in the heart of the Hunter Valley, and very easy to find. Clean rooms and nice views of the resort. Walking distance to McGuigans and Tempus Two if you want to do a little more than a tasting. Also right next door to the Hunter Valley Gardens and Village shops. Very central. Lovely pool to beat the heat, and not a bad restaurant on site either (but service a little slow.) Good for those with the Accor Advantage Plus card to reduce costs on meals.

Spent a lovelly and quiet midweek getaway for a couple of nights at the Mercure only booked a few days before arriving and loved every minute of it! Nice family room with direct access to the pool was wonderful and a plesent supprise~ Gardens presented well and lovelly outsdoors area to sit in. Took my 18month old nephew with me and the cot ordered right down to the staff keeping him entertained in the restaurant was brilliant! Great access to the HUnter Valley Gardens. Helen, Kat and Wolfie wonderful service it was a magical stay and we intend to return again sometime very soon! Very clean quiet and comfy! Would strongly suggest you pay the extra and get a full buffet breakfast worth every dollar and such a wonderful selections of foods. Even the late checkout was a winner~

We decided to stay a night here due to its close proximity to the Hunter Valley Gardens and certainly didn't regret it! The staff were lovely, especially Helen, and readily gave us a late checkout as our room wasn't booked the next day. We asked to have drinks and tea from the Steakhouse out by the pool and staff happily accommodated our request. At breakfast the next day staff couldn't do enough for us neither. Our room backed onto the pool and this worked fabulously well given it was 37 degress the day we stayed and all we wanted to do was lounge aorund the pool before heading off to see the wonderful Christmas lights display at HVG. Will be returning next Christmas to do the same thing and would readily recommend others do the same.

My recent stay at the Mecure Resort Hunter Valley Gardens was an extremely disappointing experience to say the least.
Firstly I turned up to my room and found the beds in the room were separated to make 2 single beds not a king studio as according to my original booking.
We had two rooms booked as we were planning a relaxing couple of days away with friends but the rooms were on different blocks.
When we went to play tennis on the 2 courts on offer we had a hard time choosing which court was least dirty and suitable for playing on. There were fallen branches and debris all over the court which made our game a lot less enjoyable.
On our last night we were almost turned away from the only dining option in the hotel "Steakhouse Restaurant" at 8:30pm as they said the kitchen was closing. We had been informed by the front desk the restaurant closes at 9:30pm so you can understand why we were shocked to hear this. They reluctantly sat us for dinner and the food wasn't great, as the food was being served we started to wish we had been refused a table earlier!
The most disappointing part is that as an Accor Advantage Plus member I try to stay at Accor hotels as much as possible, this is definitely the worst experience so far. I can undertand the difficulty of running a hotel during peak season in a remote area but there is no excuse for bad service! This hotel needs to get it together or drop the Accor affiliation.
Bottom line only stay at this hotel if there are no other options in the surrounding area and you are really desparate.

Stayed here for 2 nights recently. Pros: fabulous location, close to the gardens, village shopping and some wineries.
Cons: Screaming kids next door (why put couples next door to a family?? Really romantic), walls were paperthin, one down light was out in the bathroom and hence we practically showered in the dark. You'd think the cleaners would alert someone to fix it. We booked a half day bus winery tour through reception. We went to 3 wineries on the tour... one which was next door to the Mercure! We'd only just walked there a couple of hours ago. We felt like we wasted our money.

Room Tip: If you're on a romantic trip away, ask for a room away from families!
