friendly staff person checked in husband and I for 2 night stay new years 2011/2012 . Happy with Hunter Room very clean ,spacious . bathroom ok .nice view. Dissappointing with the breakfast provided from the restaurant San Martino we had breakfast as part of accommodation, the second breakfast we opted to go else where. Our Hunter room was very pleasant and provided a nice level of comfort.

The Hunter Resort was the perfect place for us to stay, when visiting the Christmas Lights Spectacular. It is close to the lights, has very comfortable family rooms, a great onsite restaurant and brewery, friendly and helpful staff and the kids were so so excited about the pool, spa and horseriding. Thank you Phil and all your fabulous staff, who made our weekend so perfect.

We booked a package otherwise the prices would have been too much for us. Whilst the wine experience was great and very well presented the wines for sale were well overpriced. Wifi had to be paid for (shame in this standard of accommodation) and reception was so bad I had to sit next to the router to be connected. We had booked a horse and carriage ride as part of our package but they had arranged it for the same time as our wine experience so we lost out.

Room Tip: All single story rooms for those with not money problems, 'cottages' available at a price.

A bit disappointed I have to say after our booking was made primarily on the Tripadvisor comments.
After being told by reception where to go to find our room which from the outside looked a little like a ‘delux donga’. The cabin was divided into two main rooms being the bathroom and main bedroom which has the sliding doors onto the balcony. These two rooms are separated by a small kitchenette. It would have been nice to have had a bottle or two of local wine in the fridge as an option as we arrived late in the day.
The bathroom was modern, clean and another world away from my initial impression of the 'delux donga'. A very relaxing and good sized spa for both of us. That said, the main bedroom is more of retro cabin that grew on me and was nice to relax in. I enjoyed having a couple of beers on the balcony which overlooks a paddock and felt very comfortable and relaxed watching the birds.
Overall I think it was my expectations set by both comments left on Tripadvisor and the near $200 a night had me expecting something a little more impressive. I can't comment on much more as we didn't eat on site or do any of the tours. We simply stayed there two nights, explored and had all our meals at the many other local wineries. A car is recommended as it cost $40 each way (to a local restaurant) should you need a taxi. There are other wineries closer including the new Keith Tulloch Cellar door which looked amazing and only a kilometre or so away.
Overall I would stay here again, but at a more appropriate rate of $120 - $145 and wouldn’t expect anything fancy but a good comfortable place to sleep and switch off.

Room Tip: The cabins all seemed very similar.

Easy to find with friendly staff. Rooms ok if a little tired; breakfast pretty good. Prior to holiday we read conflicting trip advisor comments on meals at this hotel compared to restaurant across the road so tried out the latter - seems we chose the wrong option - it was one of our worst eating experiences for many a year. If there is a next time we will definitely stay on site!

Rooms tired looking. More like a motel from 30 years ago. Very overpriced for the standard.
Restaurant expnsie and very average meal. Cafe poor. Had a wedding reception which, suprisiingly, was quite good.
