So this was our first visit to Hunter valley and since we had to choose just 3-4 wineries (of 200+) given the short duration of stay, we went with a 2011 review by CNN traveller where David Hook wines was no 1. David Hook wines was the third winery we visited and it truly is no 1 in every manner. The property itself is breathtaking. A gorgeous lake/Picturesque setting welcomes you as you park and walk towards the wine cellar/venue. There is a big restaurant in the property as well so it's perfect to stop here for a brunch/lunch. Though it was a busy day, we were welcomed and seated for wine tasting within 2-3 mins of entering. You have to pay to taste but if you buy a bottle or two, it's waved off. We bought 2 delicious wines. Their trophy winner- Barbera as well as the Riesling wine. Highlight of the day at Hunter Valley :)
