“Needs an upgrade”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

This hotel needs a bit of work and an upgrade of rooms. Our room had a very noisy fan/compressor situated in the ceiling above the bathroom and even with the bathroom door closed it was very noisy. I was annoyed about being put in such a room as we were staying 3 nights and were on holiday and needed a rest. Furniture looked it came from a garage sale and was very old. We tried to have a pre-dinner drink but the bar had run out of Johnny Walker scotch and could only supply a more expensive brand for which we were charged $14 a glass. No good coffee supplied in the breakfast area, you had to pay an extra $8 - every other Accor hotel we've stayed at has either a barrista or a self serve coffee machine. Could have used more hotel info in the room such as a restaurant menu. The staff though were very nice and helpful.

Lovely hotel in a great location. Friendly staff, lovely restaurant and very nice rooms. Comfortable bed, great location, very close to wine tasting cellars and vineyards. Complimentary wine was great. Food in the restaurant was really nice and affordable.

We stayed in the Manor House in a Heritage Queen room. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was smaller than expected and the furniture a bit dated. The mini bar and fridge were housed in a very silly piece of furniture that was altogether useless and awkward to use. Nowhere logical to plug the kettle in. There should be free Wi-Fi. Even a backpacker has free Internet. The building echoed with noise. The front door slams shut with a bang; very annoying late at night. Lots of free parking. Pokolbin village is a 10 minute drive so do go there for lunch.
The staff were fantastic, friendly, glad to see us and very helpful. Food was very good, we had breakfast, lunch and dinner; very happy with every meal. Breakfast cost $30 each if you turned up in the morning, but $20 if expressly booked prior. You have to say you want the $20 breakfast booking. The High Tea has to be booked 48 hours in advance. We were unable to have a High Tea because we didn’t know that. The reason is that they order in the ingredients fresh. We will stay again because of the great staff and food.

Room Tip: Order the $20 breakfast and the High Tea in advance.

Just spent 3 nights here last weekend. The hotel's food was superb, the staff the best I have ever come across - extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. They were all delightful to deal with. The room was lovely and well appointed and all rooms have a wonderful outlook onto rolling fields and mountains in the background. The heated indoor pool was most enjoyable ! This is an ideal base in the Hunter Valley from which to explore or just have a relaxing rest . The gardens are beautiful and just lovely to stroll around. I can't fault them on anything at all!

Room Tip: Ideally you may like to pick a room that gets the morning sun.

Because of my special birthday, we were upgraded to Superior Room!! The room was very spacious and comfortable, bathroom was big and the bathrobes were a nice touch. The room had a nice balcony (unfortunately, it was shared by all the rooms in the same level) so there was no privacy there, as anybody could walk past your open doors.
Breakfast was plenty and varied, having fruit, cereals, yoghurts and the usual hot dishes, like eggs, sausages, bacon and pancakes. Overall, we had a lovely stay.

Kirkton Park allows you to relax, it's position on a large property ensures a very quiet stay in it's well appointed, clean and comfortable rooms overlooking the mountain range in the Hunter Valley. The swimming pool and spa complex is well worth using. The grounds include Tennis courts and many lovely garden areas. I dinned at night - the meal was exceptional and breakfast had a generous range to suit all. Even though this Hotel had dozens of people staying, it's design provides a peaceful visit. Only a few minutes drive and you are in the heart of the Pokolbin wineries. Will stay again - Kodak

We travelled mid week in doing this we did not have the crowds. The view was fantastic we had a balcany which in the morning was lovely to sit outside and just look at the scenery. We had a wonderful meal at the restaurant in the evening and a great hot breakfast. No lunch needed on our drive home. The pool area was fantastic very clean with a seperate spa.
We will recommend the Sebel Kirkton Park to all our friends and family.
