I stayed here last week and the place was incredible, even better than the pictures online. Everything was so well pointed and really well thought out. Absolutly gorgeous setting right next to the vines. Would certainly come back for round two at this stunning getaway

We stayed here last weekend with 4 other couples. It was absolutely perfect for our purposes and as we had the whole place to ourselves we didn't have to worry about disturbing anyone (which we definitely would have done had there been other people around!).

The architecture is refreshingly different and modern - from the massive slab of polished concrete that traverses the 'kitchen' to the ginormous sliding doors...insulated corrugated metal on the south side (no windows) and full glass on the north. This arrangement means the place warms up beautifully with the sun and is sheltered from the bad weather coming from the south, it can also be opened right up to capture cross breezes in the warmer weather.

The glass-fronted wood-burning fire is double-sided, so the lucky people in that bedroom (on the right as you enter from the rear) get the benefit of a completely safe fire to look at and enjoy. There is a huge stack of wood outside up the hill but plenty to start with in an inside woodple by the fire. The box of firelighters was an intelligent addition so no great skill is required to get a roaring fire.

The kitchen is fully stocked with the cupboards, pullout pantry, dishwasher & drawer neatly contained in a wall at right-angles to the huge bench that houses the induction cooktop (don't take your own special pan for pancakes/omelettes...they won't work!) and sink with a tap that looks like it might fly if you press the right button! The pink bubbly, 2 litres of orange juice (the good stuff), litre of milk and chocolates were a thoughtful addition to the fridge.

I loved the way the bedrooms have huge wooden doors that open up onto the veranda and views of the vines and fauna (heaps of both!). The beds are wonderful and the down pillows better than any I've experienced anywhere in the world. I'm currently trying to find out where I can buy one for myself because they were better than my own one from home. The doonas are also excellent quality - light and warm (although we were in the 'fire' bedroom so were toasty warm anyway).

The front deck was perfect, with a gorgeous view over the acres of neighbouring vines, gently rolling hills, birds and families of kangaroos that seemed relatively unconcerned by these noisy humans close by. The sturdy square wooden tables and stools were ideal for pushing together to cater for the needs of our group of 10 for breakfast and 'happy hour' (until it got too cold when we'd retreat to the warmth of the indoor fire).

Thoroughly recommend this place if you enjoy somethig a bit different & innovative. And even if you don't, you'll still love it because it's extremely comfortable and has everything you need for a stay in the ever-improving Hunter Valley.

Room Tip: There are 3 x 2-bedroom apartments. The one on the left as you approach from the rear has larger cre...

We stayed here for my birthday as 2 couples and were disappointed upon arrival to find that the 2 bedrooms advertised as great for 2 couples consisted of a private bedroom and a second bedroom that was open into the kitchen and living area. I called the owner to see if one of the other 2 accommodations were more private only to be berated and yelled at by the owner who made unnecessary comments such as "Do you want me to come over and build a wall". When I explained that she was being hostile and ruining my birthday weekend there was no apology.

I would expect a level of customer service that was not only lacking but upsetting and spolit the start of a weekend celebration - unnecessary under any circumstances. When my husband phoned back to see if they had kindling for the fire (none was provided, the shops were closed and the heating not working) she refused to answer the phone or return the call. Someone else dropped off leaves over an hour later after my husband forraged in the dark for sticks given the chilly July weather. When I explained the heating did not work I was informed it was and spent the weekend without heating.

The accommodation is unique and lovely but the owner was so rude we would never return. I was expecting a place described as perfect for 2 couples to mean that you could change in the bedroom without being seen or watch TV in the lounge room without waking others.

Just a lovely experience. The unit was very clean and had all one needed and then there is the amazing deck to drink hunter valley wine on. Kangaroos in the morning an added bonus.

Wow... what a place.. within seconds of entering the Longhouse we felt at home.. stunning modern design but with all the warmth and feel of an old farmhouse at the same time.. The large concrete kitchen bench was a feature, perfect for eating in.. a bottle of wine, great conversation and some tasty winter cooking all followed. The open wood fire added to the mood, keeping everything toasty and snug whilst the ipod dock kept the tunes flowing. The Longhouse is perfect for kicking back and relaxing as a couple or dining in with friends and family. Design is perfect, with the whole building opening up to the North, with views over vineyards and rural countryside. The large wooden deck is perfect for a mid morning brunch in the sun before heading out to source the wines for the dinner later that night.

Would also really suit a bridal party for the final preparations for the big day.

The Longhouse has a unique feel, something thats hard to describe but remains with you well after you leave. Highly recommended.

Our children were delighted to see kangaroos in the "garden" as we drove up to the Longhouse. A hidden gem, you would have no idea what's hidden behind the corregated door when you arrive at your parking spot. Opening the enormous door to see right through the open lounge and contemporary kitchen to the views ahead, I felt a wave of calm come over me (a rarity with 2 small children in tow!). A beautiful open fire cleverly heats lounge and bedroom at the same time offering true ambience of a warm cosy home in winter. By day, the place fully opens up to let through as much fresh air as you could want.

The kids loved the space, us adults loved watching them play.

The only negative...water pressure was a little iffy and hard to work out.
